How many people here would like a progressive forum for strategy?
I would like a forum where the DLC and Freepers are not attacking progressives candiates with nonsense like, "he looks like an elf." We don't need useless distractions when we are trying to save our party. The only way our party is going to win again, given the mass exodus I've been witnessing since Kerry's concession, is if it does move to the left and I'm certain there are a lot more here who feel the same. If you would like a forum for just progressives, add in your voice. If the DLC-types want their forum, they can have a DLC forum where we won't bother them.

Thanks for suggesting it.

2. wont work
some of the people you are pissed off at are just as liberal as you, they just happen not to think DK is the end all be all of liberal politics.
Lots of us supported other candidates and the comments that piss you off are going to follow you unless you stick to the DK forum. If you don't like the nasty comments you might want to stop starting threads insulting Dean and Clark in the very first paragraph.

3. You would have me believe that Bush is progressive
Whether you like DK or not, he is the candidate that most embodied the progressive ideals: peace, an end to NAFTA and the WTO, universal health care, choice, protection for the environment, free education through college, etc. His height was an excues for those who don't want to admit that they ar opposed to peace and universal health care.

10. Some of us didn't support him for other reasons.
I respect Dennis Kucinich and would love to see him run for Senate or take on a leadership role in the House (although I guess he already chairs the progressive caucus). But I don't support him for President because, though his ideals are mine as well, I don't agree with his implementation. Ideas like "Department of Peace" are hard for me to swallow.

5. Genius, I guess you better tread lightly with the freepers
There are reportedly a ton of them masquerading as Democrats at this site. It looks like you've pissed them off. Keep up the good work Genius.

4. Definitely. Good idea. The freepers here love to attack liberals.
I've noticed that the freepers are trying to diffuse the attacks on Bush by going after Dennis. They think that if the real Democrats have to defend Dennis, they'll forget about the fact that Bush stole the election. So how do we go about starting up this liberal or progressive forum?

6. I'm in. I've notice a lof of venum towards liberals here too
If there are a lot of freepers, that would explain it. Also, some of the candidates, like Dean and Lieberman, were really conservative on most issues and the DLC-type Democrats are probably more numerous here. I rarely post here because the conservatives and "moderates" are so nasty. Progressives need a safe haven.

7. There are some real right wingers at this site
I was just looking over the postings of the last day or two and I noticed people arguing in favor of depleted uranium and talking about how it saves our troops. I don't beleive any Democrat would claim this. It looks like Kerry ran against DK and not against Bush and some of the posters feel Kerry's only hope is to defeat DK. I wish there were a way to figure out how many Republicans are at this site. There is at least one poster above that I think is a Republican but I can't be sure.

8. I Can See The Denial River Still Flows Here
I've cut down my DU visits drastically since the election as I could see how this place had become a combination pity party and blame game. Lots of second guessing and finger pointing...especially among the supporters of Kucinich, Dean, Clark and others. It wasn't even 24 hours after the election as the "we woulda won if..." crap started coming out.

I got pissed off when I wanted to look at not what went wrong, but to start working almost immediately in trying to plan a strategy for 2006 lest the Democrats face even greater losses that would mean veto proof houses and senate. I proposed a forum where we could discuss how Democrats could build local bases that would start winning elections and really start to make changes. If people are pissed about BBV, then where are the groups working on finding Democratic candidates in those states that we can start supporting for Secretary of State...or to seperate the ideology game from the "winning elections" game, since without Democrats in control of the House & Senate, we're really screwed, even if Kerry had won.

But again, all I see here is lots of paranoia and denial. No wonder many, many I knew who used to visit this site daily and were regular posters no longer are here.

Flame all you want, but this place is now a joke and if I hadn't spent so much in contributions to this place over the last year, I wouldn't bother stopping in either. Now flame on and keep proving me right.

If there are those ready for an open discussion on how the Democratic party can win on the local, state and national level and not the blame games and idealistic posturing, drop me a PM...I won't be expecting to hear anything.

Cheers!

9. Nice technique! Slam the people here, accuse them in advance...
... of being hostile toward you, then sit back and say "I told you so."

Clever!

12. Yep, And You Bit...
If that's how you view what I posted, my point is proven.

This entire string is full of anger and paranoia. It's your intolerance that symbolize why this site has become such a joke.

I was hoping dialogue, instead it came back hostile. Attempt to say something outside the pity party themes here and one's called a defeatists or worse. Yawn!

Enjoy your delusions and watch this party become totally marginalized in two years.

11. There's plenty of venom towards DLCers too.
I have never on DU seen the type of nonsense you quote above. On the other hand, I see plenty of people calling DLCers "freepers" (see posts in this thread, for example) or "Republican lite" just because we are not as liberal as you are. Believe it or not, there are plenty of Democrats near the center, and they are as much the heart and soul of the party as your pure-100% progressives.

MOST attack posts/thread are begun by further lefties, attacking moderates/DLC-types. Then when they come in to defend, they're called freepers, nasty, blah blah, and are accused of attacking "liberals."
