If women have illegal abortions by unqualified practioners, they can end up sterile, and having a hysterectomy at a young age due to damage done by dirty equipment and poor surgical technique.

If a woman has an abortion in a clean, licensed clinic run by doctors and nurses, unless she has some risky health issue, she should recover the same way one recovers from a routine D&C for conditions like fibroids.
