Politics and the MSM
I had no idea just what we are up against with the MSM until I started reading Banana Republicans. The conservative hold on the media is far reaching, conservative think tanks and foundations financially support conservatives in journalism schools and they help them with their careers....Stossel is a perfect example.

Think about the night Kerry was on the Jay Leno show. Remember that Arnold had been on and announced his candidacy....he was the first guest and given a tremendous amount of respect. The night Kerry was on Leno first had "Triumph" a plastic, talking hand puppet on. In that segment Triumph said "The poop I made in your dressing room has more heat than John Kerry." THEN it was Kerry's turn to come on.

We've wondered why the MSM hasn't reported all of the fraud and problems with the election.....it's simple, it's not in the best interests of conservatives for the MSM to do so.

If you only read one book a year, make Banana Republicans that book.

5. What does MSM stand for?
In the few threads where people have pointed to the Free Republic and I've actually braved the waters over there, I see "MSM" all the time. What does it stand for? From context, it clearly refers to media, but what do the other two letters stand for?

6. It's main stream media
and I wish we had a better acronym. I prefer corporate media myself, when writing it out.

Hmmm, what's a good adjective that starts with "B?" That way the acronym would be the same as for bowel movement, and much more evocative of what the media truly has become.

8. I use the term "Complicit Media"
The media are not simply complacent or mainstream; by actively disseminating the Republican talking points and agenda they become active participants in the destruction of this nation.

And yes, "Media" is a PLURAL noun.

9. "complicit media" That's a good one. Succinct. Accurate.
And it doesn't sound like a salad seasoning.

7. Well, it figures that it would be popular there
I think it's a lazy, sanitized way to refer to the corporate takeover of our free speech. It lets people skate over the surface without real thought, and it keeps the truth from the casual observer.

People around here have been much more inventive in the past about what to call them. My personal favorite was the Mighty GOP Wurlitzer.
