Does anyone think that Cheney will step down in two years |
|
for health reasons so they will have an incumbant VP to run in '08? Maybe they promised this to McCain to buy his support. Or Rudy, although I don't think they needed to buy RG's support, it was there for the taking.

2. Oh, that makes good sense. |

Just the sort of strategy one could expect from them.
On the other hand, that raisin-like mass in his chest, laughingly referred to as "a heart", may well explode in the meantime, destroying the universe in a torrent of anti-matter.

I think Cheney will step down. But I don't see a moderate taking his place.

...forget Rudy and Mccain. But I don't think they have to make him VP beforehand. He may suddenly immerge on the national scene like Bush in 1999.

6. Not to wish any ill will, but he'll probably have to. |

Uncle Dickey is getting older, and so is his bypass. He's not exactly the thinnest picture of health in the admin either. I'm actually surprised that he ran again this time.
I think time will force the issue one way or the other.

8. They may be considering it. . . . . . |
|
But seriously, can you see rightwingers coming to agreement on this?
Even if there is a plan, it will crash. Even those who would want Bush's approval as the nuttiest and least likely to take Bush's skeletons out of the closet wouldn't want to be taking blame for the poor outcomes. Being VP isn't THAT much of a plus.
More likely, Cheney stick it out and Bush will back somebody for purposes of the faithful who isn't part of the Iraq disaster, foreign currency drop, economic doldrums, the Plame voting Halliburton scandals, etc etc.

9. Doesn't matter... Rove can run the country w/o Cheney... |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 02:58 PM by shuffnew
whoever it might be would have no power anyway. You'd have Rove & DeLay running the country instead of Cheney-Halliburton/Rove/DeLay.
Rudy is a bigot, hypocrit, and puppet (blamed our soldiers instead of the Bush adm. publically, etc.) McCain is a hypocrit & puppet (if he weren't, he'd have changed parties after what Bushie did to him and his family when he was Bush's opponent)
Either puppet would suit the Bush regime, because they have their own isolated "glass house plan" anyway. And even if Cheney stepped down, he'd probably be on board with a fat "consultant" fee paid with our tax dollars anyway.

Frist might step down from the Senate after the next election, and I say Cheney will step down and let Frist be VP.

12. I'm going to be the odd one and say no |
|
I think that his ego will overcome both his poor health and any pressure from the RNC. He won't be forced out either, since Bush is pathologically averse to even implying that he made a mistake at some point, and he'd be casting away his remaining intellectual credibility and gravitas. Finally, the base just loves Crashcart for some reason, and I would bet that keeping him in is part of the bargain.
