Bush appoints dog catcher for new Secretary of Commerce ??
The Peter Principle is alive and well in this Administration, it seems. After the incompetent Condoleezza was appointed Secretary of State, Mr. Bush has decided to appoint Bernie Kerik, a former police commissioner as head of Homeland Security. It is hard to imagine someone more incompetent than Tom Ridge, but this may be the guy. He did go to Iraq to help with their security force and to build up his credentials a little bit and before that, he was the police commissioner in NYC during 9/11 but he has never been elected to any position - he has held only appointed positions. Perhaps Mr Kerik will surprise but some may expect someone with a bit more credibility to run such a huge agency as the Homeland Security Dept.

1. He was some kind of bully/street thug in his youth
So he became a cop and that redeemed him. Wasn't that the plot to Clockwork Orange? This was according to NPR this morning.

2. Hillary and Chuck
Shumer are praising his nomination. He is a hero in NYC. Rudy Guliani lobbied hard for him. This is I guess Bush's payback to Rudy for the support during the election.

3. Hillary and Chuck
are starting to get on my nerves with all of the praise they are lavishing on all that Bush does, wants, or remotely shows an interest in.

Sorry just a rant!

My favorite thing about this Kerik guy is that he worked for the Saudi royal family as a security expert!:grr: As my mom said, that means he's well-versed in torture methods.

Aside from possibly being a thank you to Rudy, Kerik was probably picked for contacts he may have in Saudi Arabia.

I still don't like it.

4. Hillary and Chuck
don't pass up an opportunity to add a "moderate" entry to their respective POTUS resumes.

10. Question
I'm relatively new here but I've been lurking for a while. I've heard POTUS mentioned a number of times, but, and please excuse my ignorance, what is POTUS?

Thanks so very much:pals:

5. At least it's not Asa Hutchinson
He is hard right. This Bernie guy seems very loyal to Bush and that is the only reason he got the job. I saw him on Oprah and was impressed with how he brought himself out of the trenches, however, with that said, I hope he doesn't forget where he came from and how hard it was to get there. Humility...this group needs humility...:eyes:

6. I guess Asa is mad that he didn't
get the job. I saw a streamer at the bottom of the screen on CNN that said Asa wasn't staying at Homeland Security.

7. He could have done ALOT worse. In fact anyone he might have picked
who had won an election would have most likely been ALOT worse.

9. Bernie Kerik is being rewarded for his service to the BCE/Saud criminals.
Whether he was involved in the execution of 9-11 or merely the coverup is debatable, but he was definitely their man inside the NYPD.
