1. Why does the DNC chair's position on the issues matter? |
|
As I understand it the DNC chair position is an administrative and tactical position, not a policy making type position.
So why would the DNC chair position make any difference?

policy should have no bearing on the person that holds this position. I want someone who can stand on the battlefield with the Republicans and who can build the party.

4. If he is on the talk shows |
|
he shouldn't be a guy who has to explain why he supported Bush in various areas. I would argue we need a chair who will help lead the party to have a very seperate identity from the republicans. He will get a lot of media exposure. You should pick someone whose message and media skills you are comfortable with.
Think how many times you saw Terry McAullif on TV.

5. I disagree that the DNC chair HAS to be a person |
|
who will spend a lot of time on TV. IIRC, Ed Gillespie and Haley Barbour weren't always on the chat shows.
IMO Martin Frost would be a great choice, if you want someone who knows how to run a campaign.

The Chair is a figurehead within the DNC, and therefore should represent what we want the DNC to represent.
