The "new" DemocraticUnderground ?
Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 09:04 PM by kentuck
I sense that in the last couple of days DUers are coming out of their funk from the recent election... And they are not in a happy mood. They are definitely not in the mood to be fucked with or to listen to any freeper bullshit. And they are ready to lay down some markers for their Party. They want to see some opposition to these fascists that are sabotaging our democracy. They have had enough of this "bi-partisan" crapola. Even if we must fight from the minority position forever, let us stand on our principles. We would rather fight from what we believe than to win with nothing.

My two cents, as a pissed-off Dem who wants to go back to liberal being a proud badge to wear.

3. Totally.
Begin the purge of our leadership immediately.

Start by putting Dean in the big chair at DNC.

Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 08:58 PM by Bluzmann57
I have physically faced down a few righties since Nov. 2. They talk the talk but will not walk the walk. One guy told me that I was crazy and I actually agreed with him. I am crazy that the greatest country in the world is being taken over by small minded bigots and just general idiots. And I have decided that Mr. Nice Guy isn't getting us anywhere, so yes, I'm fighting. Prefer no physical confrontation, but damn it, sometimes its the only way. My principles may be a bit more conservative than some, but I stand behind my brothers and sisters here at DU. We will not be a minority party forever.
To steal a phrase from Bartcop- Redneck Liberal here

6. this should depress those with some fight in them ...
John "Fucking" Breaux ... are these people kidding me ??

read this crap: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&e=8&u=/ap/20041203/ap_on_re_us/democrats_governors

i've been thinking a lot lately on just what the hell i think i'm doing in the Democratic Party ... i can't decide whether Dean's DFA is either going to: a. ultimately gain control of the party for progressives or b. keep lefties who should be getting out from leaving ... "here, do this, it will make you feel like you're doing something constructive" ... stated another way, i personally can't decide whether staying and fighting for control is politically viable ... if it's not, and this is nothing but an effective way of keeping lefties home on the farm, I gotta find a new party ...

8. I'm running for party office, how about you?
We will take it back, it has been done before... in our history.

We can do it, but this means you and I will have to do something about it... so I tell you... RUN for a party office in the upcoming Party elections... we can take it back... after all the party is US!

13. i hear you, my friend ...
i'm affiliated with a local group of progressive democrats ... we are almost at the point that we outnumber those "regular party members" who frequent party caucuses ...

i think we will stand a pretty good chance to take over the party in our town ... we're small, but it's a start and there are groups like ours all over the state ...

still, it is incredibly depressing to listen to all these big name democrats talking about moving the party to the right ... i wonder how long it will take for us to gain meaningful control ...

11. Get involved with your "Precinct." It all starts there...and most of us
aren't even aware that it's the "true grassroots." Most Dem Precincts don't even have officers...and you don't even have to "campaign." You just find out when your Precinct Elections are from your County Website and show up. You will end up voting for yourself because unless you are in a place like Philly or NYC where the folks already know how to run Parties and about loyalties very few folks will be there. You vote for yourself and you now will be eligible for the "District Dem Meeting" and to have a vote at the County and State Democratic Conventions. You get to vote and bring issues to the floor for debate and vote.

What's more important is that you can organize within the party in your Precinct and folks will listen to you. This is "grassroots up" instead of "Top Down" which is what's gotten us into this terrible situation we are in today.

22. I've really oversimplified it. But, it was very easy for this angry Dem
to become a Precinct Vice Chair. And many of our Precincts don't have any officers and need desperately to be organized. The Repugs don't have this problem...They've been doing this for years, but we Dems are behind in many states leaving it all up to the "elected officials" forgetting that our Constitution and Bill of Rights did put a system in place where the little guy/gal could have a voice.

12. I'm getting more and more frustrated
with the lack of clear, strong voices at the top of the Democratic party. I'm getting highly frustrated with corporatism instead of populism in my party.

I despair.

Zero tolerance for right-wing drug addicts. Talk back.

National debt? Baby Tax

Gay marriage? Right To Marry

Trial lawyer? Public Protection Attorney

Environmental wackos? Poison Free Communities

Liberal? Common Sense

Don't play defense; play OFFENSE.

Kentuck, you are right. We are pissed, and we're not going away.

21. Yeah, I'm coming out of my funk
& getting angrier every day.

I'm mad at Repubs, media, voting machines, etc.

But I'm angrier at the Dem establishment, that has left us in the situation we find ourselves in. The worst economy, dollar falling, people dying in Iraq, pending draft?, no healthcare, environmental movement of 30 yrs being destroyed.

And that the voting machines weren't fixed BEFORE the election.

And I'm angry that they're not angry about the election.

The Grand Silence! Except for Jesse Jackson.

23. I agree, and will add that I'm not even willing to listen to middle-road
democrats. I have come to believe that the American ideological shift to the right is not a future event but has already happened. I now realize that the leadership of the Democratic party is not willing to draw a line in the sand--and my question is, if not now? when? It pisses me off that I am now having to draw my own line with the Democratic party.

Are we in it for the long haul? We may very well lose in '08. But, we must make this change, we must go back to being real Democrats again.

Are you ornery enough to deny a DLC lead party your vote? I think we'd all better give this some thought. We have to be strong. As long as we keep voting for these conservative dems they will control our party.

Let's start to get the word out. Lead, follow or get out of the way. We're going back to our idiological home.

...when we had to be concerned that our party was selling us out. There was always the danger of the other side getting too much power and destroying everything the left has worked for decades to accomplish...but never a perceived threat from within.

I think we're going to see a resurgence of the progressive ideology and a mass exodus if the leadership doesn't finally listen.
