Before you bash the guy.... he gave up a lucrative career to go defend his country.

4. It was a friendly fire incident that killed him.
The army has all the info so my guess is they need a distraction to take the place of the Scott Peterson trial until Jacko is charged.

Also, he wasn't "leading" the patrol when they came under fire from their fellow soldiery that night in Afghanistan. And apparently, though there was a smidgen of honest reportage at or near the time of Tillman's death, the military tried to make it out as something heroic. Instead, it was just another meaningless death to feed into the myth of the American wehrmacht.

6. Why do you assume that we would bash "the guy"
Many people here on DU emphasize that the LEADERSHIP at the *very* top (Pentagon Civilians and General Officers who set the tone and the policy) should be held to task - NOT the Poor Bloody Infantrymen at platoon level.
