My 77 year old devout Catholic mother told me about a phone conversation she had with a friend from college over the weekend.
Friend: I'm so relieved that Bush was reelected.
Mom: We were disappointed.
Friend: Well at least he's pro-life.
Mom: We didn't think he is pro-life.
Friend changes subject.
edited to correct the spelling error my mom would not have made.

how the Bushies love to talk about their guy until you start hitting them with some cold, hard facts!
A toast to your Mom! :toast:

most people who are acquainted with my mother would proably label her as quiet, and assume she would never say anything. But while my mom is quiet,(clearly an introvert) she also doesn't let things she disagrees with on a moral basis go by. I remember when we were kids in the small town we grew up in, the local grocery store started to put out "girlie magazines" my mom went quietly to the manager and told him politely and simply that if those magazines were in sight of her children, she would not shop there. (With 7 kids she had an argument with leverage.) The offensive magazines were put in the back, and my folks continue to shop there.

My Mum & Dad usually go to the states for their gambling fix (at least once a year). They are in their 80's. Guess what? This year... no way. Not as long as that "idiot" (my mum's word-don't want to use my dad's) is in charge.
I <heart> my parents.:loveya:

7. Succinct, polite, and right to the point! |

You should indeed be proud of her. Sounds like she made a very germane point, and kept a friend. Is your mom by any chance available to serve as Secretary of State?

She is my kind of political mom. Hittin' 'em with that soft velvet hammer. Smart, quiet, effective; that is what we all must become.

and lucky you for having such a smart mama! If there's one message I want to make clear by the time 2008 rolls around, it's the fact that Bush is NOT pro-life.
