I watched part of his speech. It was sickening, and I eventually switched to more intellectual fare (the Cartoon Network, they had a great run of Baby Bugs and pals toons) but I did see the embroidery (in a deep brown thread). It said 'George W. Bush,' and beneath that, 'Commander in Chief.'
Yecch. It is customary to give the visiting dignitary a hat with their name on the back, or a jacket, or something like that, but they usually put it on, pose for a picture, and then take it off and hand it to the bag carrier. It used to be that for Presidents, one would get a "patch" of the Presidential Seal from one of the liaisons at the WH, sew that on, and put the name above or below the seal.
But this is something new. It is a fucking COSTUME. It's like he made up an outfit that he thought would look good on him, kind of like Idi Amin.
The fact that he is ALWAYS wearing this shit is TROUBLING. The flight suit on the carrier, the Army Warm-Up jacket during the plastic turkey event, and THAT STRANGE GET-UP with the USMC....it looks like a cross between a Navy khaki jacket (they got canned a decade or so back, replaced by the all purpose black jacket) and some serious polyester fabric from the days of leisure suits.
It is frightening. God save us all.

having your name on your jacket only looks right if you are a repairman or gas station attendant in uniform. Either that, or if you are six years old and your mommy sewed it on so you wouldn't lose it.

Any bets on how long before that rat-bastard sneaks some stars on those epaulets?
The janitor came in today and turned on the TV in the classroom. Seeing this scene produced more than my usual revulsion to junior, seeing this image brought on a case of full-body horror.
My friend wanted me to see it. Everyday he says to me: "why can't these people (meaning the sleepers we work with) see what's happening in this country?"
Well, everything about the junta is carefully scripted, especially the images. No accident.

Some people can carry stuff like this off,a cartoon figure on TV maybe.
This is it! This says a lot about his personality. What rationale human being, that is the President of the United States, would put this crap on!!?

gets a visit from the Prez they make him a jacket that represents their particular unit.
Clinton wore them too.
It is intended to honor the troops, not the POTUS.

I've heard of troops giving hats, etc., to visitors. But the visitors generally accept the presents & continue the appearance in civvies.
No president has ever worn military gear in official presidential appearances. And we've had some with real military careers--Eisenhower, Grant & Washington.
Edited to add: We were told the "Mission Accomplished" banner was made by the sailors. It wasn't. The synthetic Eisenhower jacket looks like it was made by the upholsterer who outfits Laura.

I've facilitated events for two presidents, and this is way the fuck over the top. You give them "standard issue" gear, a ballcap or a flight jacket, with the name on it either sewn on or on a patch, they put it on for a pic, then take it off and hand it to a lackey. I've never seen a "costumed" president like this guy, who prances around like it's Halloween and all he needs to complete the outfit is a paper bag full of candy. He apparently likes to play dress-up. It ain't normal.
