Ray Taliafero: Why aren't we bombing the hell out of Saudi Arabia?
That's where the terrorists are...that's where the people who attacked us are. Why aren't we going after the Saudis?

Hmmmm...I wonder why. Can anyone on DU think of a reason?

Ray closed the segment by yelling "MY GOD! Are there really people on this country who are THAT STUPID" after a caller said we had to go into Afghanistan to "free them from terrorists," and we had to bring down Saddam because he "had the intent to attack us, and he was planning to."

Sweet JESUS, I am so SICK of this bullshit!

:grr:

1. I would not lift a finger in protest if we bombed Saudi Arabia
Not saying I favor a war over there, because I don't, but nor would I take to the streets in protest if the US overthrew the Saudi government.

6. Well, I'm sure the millions of Saudis who have done nothing wrong
will appreciate being bombed so a handful of "bad guys" are put out of power. What is wrong with this militaristic mindset?

12. I think Ray was asking a (very) loaded question
I don't think he was advocating the bombing of anyone, especially given his extended rant during the show about the use of napalm in Iraq.

The Bush administration, from Junior on down, is based on the Republican chickenhawk ethic. They WANT to drop bombs. They get a THRILL from dropping bombs.

Saddam: Evil, corrupt dictator guilty of genocide?

Yeah.

Saddam: Active partner with al Quaeda, architect of 9/11 attacks, aggressively developing WMDs with an unyielding goal to attack the U.S.A. as soon as possible?

NO evidence. Pure CRAP fabricated by Cheney and Rumsfeld.

And yet we are "bombing the hell out of Iraq."

Osama bin Laden comes from fine, PSYCHOTIC Saudi stock. But the Bush family, from mummified son of a bitch Pappy Bush on down, is SO in bed with the "Saudi Royal Family" that ANY military action on Saudi soil in the name of "smoking the terrorists out of their caves" would NEVER, NEVER happen.

If Osama bin Laden sent another frigging video tape and announced "Hey, Bush! I'm standing right in the middle of Main Street in downtown Saudi Arabia, right in front of the Walgreen's...come and get me, BITCH! I'll wait right here"...

You know what would happen? NOTHING. We'd send troops into Iran, claiming that out "intelligence" showed that he was "in hiding" there.

So to give Ray credit, I think he was taking a provocative stand on attacking the "militaristic mindset." He was a guest speaker at my graduating class, Menlo-Atherton, Atherton California...Ray LIKES to get you thinking. He has a professional voice, he's very well educated, but make no mistake about it...he IS an attack dog. He goes right for the throat, but he'd never advocate harming a hair on ANYONE'S head.

:toast:

2. Never happen, U.S. fat cats already have a puppet government in place.

They only get out of line a little, and that's when they lose control of their Islamic lower classes.

3. We shouldn't go after the Saudis militarily
for the same reasons we shouldn't have gone after Iraq -- the backlash exceeds the benefits.

We should, however, be seeking to defund them through a program of energy independence -- allowing their global influence to naturally realign with their real economic productivity (at zero).

4. Maybe we could start by having Pappy Bush get out of their bed
As long as the Bush bank account continues to fatten through its ties to the Saudis, NOTHING will happen.

Remember the lesson of the old Belgium Congo....

Do not destroy decades of an established system unless you have SOMETHING OF VALUE with which it can be replaced.

9. Patience, patience. Everyone will be bombed in their time.
The House of Saud is still of use. When it isn't, the amurrican media will finally spread the word that 15 of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis, and Osama isn't the black sheep of the bin Laden family they'd supposed.

Then, as Saudi Arabia destabilizes, the US will seize direct control of its oil fields.

And many people, even here, will say "It's about time!" Because they'll have been hoodwinked by the half-truth, limited hangout of Saudi guilt.

10. Isn't that the truth!
The fickle friendship of the US will get everyone eventually. Don't forget how good of a friend Mr. Hussein was to us.

Yep, once SA is no longer useful, they are toast.
