REPORT ON CONYER'S MEETING TODAY
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 06:01 PM by scubed
Smaller room than yesterday' Common Cause, but standing room only.
Tons of big cameras! Don't know which were which, but lots of them.

It really is happening, folks, you can feel the dynamics in the room. Somewhat more unruly audience than perrhaps members of congress have come to expect. But, the rage and anger are accompanied by a firm RESOLVE to fix this!! Listened to Will Pitt interview Arnebeck, talked to Arnebeck myself about importance of complete exit poll information (precincts, who polled, time, etc, not just numbers). He said the evidence is partly the discrepancy with the votes for supreme counrt judge, but also from using statisfical tools (like cpas use) to look for suspicious patterns in the numbers.) Neat! Also Arnebeck said the progressive democrats and the civil rights people are REALLY working together and that is a very powerful combination. I will try to write more about both meetings, but the two days were exhausting. Feminist Majority want some help with some patterns of numbers they have identified. Steven Freeman was there as well, he has not yet released Part 2, & says he has Part 3 & Part 4 as well. He places the probability, using very conservative assumptions, as 1 in 600,000.

THE KEY THING I CAME AWAY WITH IS THAT THERE IS CLEAR CO-ORDINNATION AND CO-OPERATION AMONG A LOT OF GROUPS. IT'S UP TO US TO USE THAT TO MOBILIZE PEOPLE AT THE LOCAL LEVEL.. TALK ANYWHERE YOU CAN, FLYERS, SIGNS, PROTESTS, AND PULL IN SUPPORT FROM EVERY ORGANIZATION YOU CAN. I'M CONVINCED THE SUPPORT IS THERE, SO LONG AS WE PRESENT THIS IS DEMOCRACY, NOT AS KERRY WON/BUSH LOST. THE MEDIA WILL FOLLOW! IN OTHER WORDS, THE TIME IS NOW

1. That is very good to hear. I admit to being disheartened due to

the obvious lack of republican involvement. As much as it galls me, they do hold the key to major power in Washington. Without swinging a few of them, legislation and amendments have a long slow road to travel.

ETA: Disheartened, not surprised. I'm not naive 100% of the time.

4. So long as we push the bipartisian idea, that we are talking
our democracy ther, not who won or lost, I think we can bring them on board. That's also what Arnebeck said: push, push, push. Make it unAmerican to be against vote reform and unAmerican to accept tainted electors.

5. I can't remember who said it this morning, but someone
worded it extremely well during the forum. I remember my ears perking up when someone made comments that were a direct challenge to patriotism and good citizenship.

6. I believe it was Rep. Watts who asked the chairman if the Refundicans
had been invited. Just for the record. He also asked what the reply had been.

Conyers asked if he saw any Refundicans there.

Pretty cute. But it is in the record.

3. This is positive.
Not only for the immediate term and the immediate subject, but for the long-term as well. It is from such initiatives and partnerships that something constructive for the future will grow.

Now, they need some marketing folks, to frame the message(s), into easily-digested forms for those amongst us with shorter attention spans. Attention spans on a par with that of a mayfly.

Don't get me started about those with cognitive problems. I can do a three week soliliquy.
