Poll question: Is DU To The Left Of Gandhi?
I took the test at www.politicalcompass.org and got scores of

-2.69

and

-2.83

which if you map out is almost precisely where Gandhi fell on the political compass yet most DUers had scores to the left of Gandhi!!!

4. I looked at that compass...
...and I took the test--but I totally disagreed with how they break down their categories. It all seems based on subjective "common sense" definitions, and not on objective, material reality.

For instance, how does Saddam Hussein, a pro-capitalist thug qualify as a Leftist? Saddam left the ruling class of Iraq totally intact, and was their willing servant, crushing all opposition from the REAL Left--so how does he end up on the Left of this compass? "Left" compared to what? Bush? Maybe. But to me, that's not a satisfactory definition.

And that's the problem I had with it--it's categories are all relative and subjective, rather than material and absolute.
