F911 vs. Passion of the Christ
Was listening to AAR this morning and they were talking about how Hollywood might just decide to stick it to Bush by nominating F911 as Best Picture of the Year.

That, of course, would set off the RW, but not nearly as much as if F911 gets more nominations that Passion of the Christ.

Should F911 be nominated? Does Passion deserve any nominations?

1. I don't think either of them will.
F/911 was released in June, and Passion was released in Febuary. Icon is not doing any oscar promotion of Passion for various reasons which I actually find admrible, and I don't think that F/911 will be nominated for Best Picture because it is a documentary. It is not eligible for documentary noms because it was shown on television. Movies don't seem to be nominated unless they are released Oct-Dec. It has been that way for years.

2. The Oscars has always been about politics
and not about what is the best film. Although I personally think F/911 was one of the best films of the year. Usually it's studio politics, whichever one lobbies the academy hard enough wins. If this they decide to stick it to Bush by nominating F/911, I'm all for it.

4. i sure didnt think, as filmography, that F911 was very good.
i really didnt think it should have won cannes. it is powerful in content and timely. i think it engendered quite a bit of its own passion at cannes, plus tarantinos pull I suppose.

I didnt and wont see the passion o' the xxxxx. so no opinion.

10. F911 was great. You're right about how bad Passion was.
Passion should be declared worst movie of the year.

3. Passion beats out Abu Ghraib for best torture film of the year
Could have been Tommy Franks accepting on behalf of Lynndie England.

5. christian school i pulled kids out of, talked to new super finally
hadnt talked to him all year, figured he was a fundie. a fundie flavor has taken over school last year and half, and i pulled kids out a couple weeks ago

he whispered to me, (we were in private) that he never watched passion. told him this is what i saw whip them up in a frenzy. also said what is the w about in w04 bumperstickers. he threw his away. guess they were handed out in school. no one gave me one. and i said was seeing more conferderate flags, he says, what is that about (he is from new jersey)

should have talked to the guy a lot sooner. may not have had to leave the school

6. As a movie F911 stunk. As a political infomercial is was Great
Be honest...A good movie is good when it's over before you know it...F911 was just too long and It's not going to be a classic. How many times have you seen the Breakfast Club? Would you watch F911 that many times? They can nominate it for best picture, but it wasn't. The only two movies I want to in 2004 were F911 and Team America so I have no idea what was out there.

8. Let me try this...
I'm not picking apart the movie.(I don't read articles over 1500 words, too many words and you lose the point) The movie had too many points. I would have cut the Oregon Park Ranger and the Two Marine Mall Recuiters....If I had a say...Just to shorten it a little and keep the main point clear...It's hard to remember important points if you have too much mish-mash...
