Here is the good old south she would get no votes, period. I live in Georgia and if Jesus was black he wouldn't get one red neck vote.

16. i keep my nosey eyes on the other side
and i can usuaLLy get a good feeL for what they're pLanning. barring something expLosive (that even rove can't controL) condi wiLL be the nominee.

the idea that dems have a probLem with bLack peopLe has aLready been fLoated (remember, "does richard cLarke have a probLem with this african american woman condi"). it was Laughed at, but it continues to rear its ugLy head whenever criticisms of rice are raised.

14. Prominent democrats should choose their words carefully when
criticizing Condi during State confirmation hearings.

Rove will take statements out of context in an attempt to turn the tables and pull the race card in '08.

Maybe they can get Trent Lott to wax sarcastic on it on the talk shows.

21. Diningenous
This is where the Republicans have some skill. With Powell and Rice they have outflanked the Dems on the left - they can say "We appointed first black and first female black Sec Of States - jeez, you guys call us bigoted and when we do it, you still complain."

I could see a Condi candidacy.

a) even they must realise putting up Jebber is flawed. There can be dynasties but you have to be careful about it.

b) she's not an A-grade candidate. Given the nature of politics, people often "vote for a change" after 8 years. If can can win, cool, a Bush family protege in power. If she loses, no big loss.

be elections 2008.

"One of only a few Rebublicans who can ... win in a landslide against any other Democrat" Hear, hear! As we've just seen ANY Republican with the right technology can win!

And "compassion"? Rice and "compassion"? Just where do these people live?

23. They think Dems will vote for her because she is a black woman.
Seriously. A Republican coworker who tries to stay on top of their talking points tried to 'test' this idea on me. The idea is that they believe Dems favor affirmative action sooooo much that the very idea of being able to elect a black, female, albeit evil, President, would just knock us senselessly into voting for her.

I told him that was an idea I had never thought of. "But, she is a black woman? You would vote for her?" I asked. "Oh, yeah!" he replied. "I'll have to think abou this one," I lied, walking away.

Let them believe that we vote on issues like race and gender, so they can try to float this lead balloon. What idiots.

Maybe they can run Josef Mengele as her running-mate. Is that guy still available? I guess we would need that ammendment for Austrian candidates for President.

*attitudes* (as if the Administrations cares) in many Middle Eastern and Asian Countries where women remain "a man's property."

Albright got along famously with Patriarchal societies NOT because she was deferent but that she know the art of true diplomacy as it relates to such cultures.

I can hardly wait until Condi attempt to bully Syria or Iran. Yeah, right. NOT that I agree with such austere and unequal treatment, only that the * administrations once again reveals it's clueless in all things requiring a subtle diplomatic influence, i.e., anything that requires those reprehensible feminine (girly?) qualities known as negotiations and compromise.

29. When they want to Bully Syria or Iran
they won't use State. They'll use the Pentagon, that's pretty clear by now.

Condi won't have any problem with the Middle Eastern countries the administration is truly interested in diplomatic "relations" with, i.e. Saudi Arabia, because she speaks their language- she owns her own Oil Tanker.
