52% say - country on the "WRONG track", only 42% say "right direction" |
|
how can the 2004 presidential election results be explained?
Associated Press-Ipsos poll conducted by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Dec. 6-8, 2004. N=1,000 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.
"Generally speaking, would you say things in this country are heading in the right direction, or are they off on the wrong track?" (November in parenthesis)
Wrong Track 52% (51%) Right Direction 43% (46%) Not Sure 5% (3%)

2. We just keep coming back to the same question: "How can |
|
59 million people be so stupid".
It's like the people in our country are in a fog. I feel like a ghost. I walk around knowing all this stuff and everyone else is totally unawares. No comment. No concerns. No worries.

3. Judging From Other Votes Gone Bad... |
|
Judging from the results of other elections gone bad--such as Germany's vote to put Hitler in power and also the votes that put such people like Milosevic and Tudjman into power in the former Yugoslavian states, I'd say that too many voters haven't connected their politicians with what is happening to them.

4. And the 42% (?) includes what percentage of participants |
|
who think that Armageddon or some other version of the End Times is the "right direction"?
I think that {42% - percentage-of-crazies} is the number of greatest interest. Subtract out the few percent that actually benefits (from this mess) and then the remainder is the number that might possibly be "reached" (at least in part).
And they are "crazies", at least, for believing that the current "evil" will bring any "good", much less the End Times that they seem to so desire -- if you call their End Times a "good" thing.

I woke up this morning from a sound sleep with this very thought. Do you have a link for the above stats?

6. Maybe they should have thought more about that on Nov 2 |
|
Now is a little late to be thing about this, we have passed the fork in the road and there is no turning around now. Down that dark slippery path we go.

Yes, it was stolen, but it was still too close considering how things are going in this country.

but maybe even though a majority feel the country is on the wrong track they felt with Kerry it would be worse.

9. I mentioned this to someone the other night. |
|
That a side effect of stealing the election so blatantly is that a majority of the population openly dislikes you and has voted against you. The majority in this country will likely punish Dubya by virtue of the fact that they didn't vote for him, so it should be interesting to watch the backlash assuming that nothing blows up next week and starts more wars.

10. Yup the same 42% that elected Bush |
|
by 3 million votes.
The election results are explained easily with one word. FRAUD. Any other hypothesis requires serious leaps of faith and contortions of mind and fact to explain.
Occams Razor cuts right through the media bullshit.

11. The answer depends on the person |
|
Without knowing why each person answered the way they did this poll is pretty much nonsense. A left leaning person might answer wrong direction because they believe Bush is too conservative. A right leaning person might might answer wrong direction because they don't think Bush is conservative enough. Each answered wrong track but are aimed at vastly different goals.
A better poll would be to ask specific like what is going right and what is going wrong then what there ideal right direction is. The same was for the Clinton years. Was his support by the center because of welfare reform or universal health care? They are vastly different goals.
As the old saying goes, "There are lies, damn lies and statistics......"
