1. I think that this is extremely healthy.
Get the issues on the table. Face the frothers square on. Stop the hemmorhaging of credibility. Re-buttress our connections to our natural constituancies and make all stronger as a result.

Even if he doesn't win, he will now be a player. That is good for many reasons.

The days of DLC policy primacy are very over. Al From's voice was shaking for some very good reasons. He knows.

2. Looks good so far...
He is certainly someone to be considered. I am impressed with the DNC news he offers as updates. This is the first place whee I read that McAuliffe and Donna Brazile (who also wans the DNC Chair) are launching an investigation into the Ohio elections. Kinda late coming to the table wouldn't ya say? Now watch them try to claim credit for what evryone else has already done.

4. Brazile has been pushing the DNC on this one
She was about one week late picking up the battle after Election Day, which means she was about a month ahead of most DNC leaders. I do not think it is a coincidence that Brazile has strong ties with Progressive African Americans and that, as far as the Democratic Party is concerned, African Americans have provided the leadership on Voter fraud. I give her some credit. She promised me a week after the election in an email exchange that she would fight for a Congressional investigation and she kept her word.

6. I am not impressed with her so far...
she will have to come a loooonnnnnng way from Al From and McAuliffe and the DLC before I could even think about her as a possiblity. And I consider myself a very Progressive African American. It ain't all about the heritage, brutha! I don't vote for folks based on skin color. I do listen out for folks who care about equal rights and opportunities regardless if they are polka-dot.

8. I do not support her for DNC Chair
I am watching her on this issue though. There has been such a void of leadership on voter fraud and intimidation in the Democratic Party, she is looking better than most in that regard.

5. I worked with Donnie
in Michigan as a volunteer then later as staff.

Donnie believes in the grassroots movement. That the locals, those who live where the votes are cast, know best. I can almost hear his voice telling me this back in the summer. Telling me that the huge grassroots movement we had started for Kerry in Michigan was the "roots" of the campaign and that, like a river, the campaign/the grass-tops, would channel us and direct us while listening to what we knew about our communities.

Donnie was brought on board far too late by the Kerry people. I have no doubt in my mind that had Donnie been running the Kerry campaign we would have won...soundly.
