bush is not a Christian; maybe he's a NEO-christian. |
|
A terrific essay on how & why bush isn't a true Christian. He's a fake christian. Just like he's a fake Texan and a fake farmer. A neo-christian. High Stakes For Church and StateSojourners Magazine http://www.sojo.net/index.cfm?action=magazine.article&mode=printer_friendly&issue=soj0411&article=041110Unfortunately, that kind of true Christianity is hard. George Bush doesn't do hard.

Which, of course, is a requirement for being a republican.

3. Great-Grandfather George Walker walked out of the Catholic Seminary his |

parents had sent him to in England. He married a protestant lady (an episcopalian, I believe it was--criticized the Church forever and a day...I've not read much about the religiosity of Dorothy Walker or Prescott Bush ... there may have been not much there ... I doubt that George Herber Walker Bush is a very religious man and for that matter, I also doubt that Barbara Bush is a very religious woman... and unless l'Enfant has had some Road to Damascus type of conversion, I doubt very much that he is a deeply spiritual/religious person and think that FAKE CHRISTIAN, FAKE TEXAN, and FAKE FARMER fits him to a tee. 4. Sojourners is a great organization, and I would love to see Wallis |
|
on the tube as often as I see Falwell or Robertson--he could really make those of faith see that W.rong is far from their leader.
Before DUers read this and go off on him about the two issues he doesn't agree with most of us about; let me make you aware: Sojourners is vehemently opposed to laws restricting both issues, especially changes to the Constitution.
I urge any DUer of Christian faith to look into Sojourners. They aren't afraid to be political, although they do strive to be non-partisan.
