What do DUer think about the flawed logic that Democrats should move to the center? Today on Meet the Press, Tim Russert showed some quotes from some Democrats who still think we need to move to the center. They seem to blame Kerry's lose on the fact that he tried to movativate the base of the Democratic Party. In my opinion this logic is baseless and ridiculous in that Kerry did not try to movativate the Democatic base. So what do you think is making some of these people come out and say Kerry lose because he tried to appeal to his base when that is not true?

Thanks to the right wing's media megaphone, the center has been shifting ever-rightward. The Democratic Party has tried to follow along, with very little success.
Besides, why should the Dems be taking advice from the likes of Tim Russert? He's a political genius? He's just another media hack in the right wing's employ. GE signs his paycheck.

2. i agree, i think it's just Right Wing lies. |
|
i now even doubt those people really exist. how can we be 'sooo polarized' and still have 'a huge vocal center wanting compromise'? they are diametrically opposed. one of them has to be a lie. everyone and his helen keller mother knows we are 'sooo polarized' so the other statement about centrists must be pure horseshit. there is no 'center' anymore, just apathetic mongoloids that need to think to remember to breathe.
i ain't buyin that line for a plug nickel.

For a remarkable explanation of the entire systemic rot that infects the airwaves glitzed up as "news," please read "The Republican Noise Machine."
It explains why the Dems on TV aren't really "ours," why the MSM lets this kind of crap happen, and who is behind it.
Russert is a GE shill. Ignore him--actively!

4. It sounds like a corporatist maneuver, possibly DLC as well |
|
It's a great way to splinter a party. The more left-leaning members would be forced out, while the moderates who have not yet sold out would be left fending off corporatists within their own ranks. It's a party destroyer.

6. We are already so far right that a move to the center would be a leftward |

7. I moved to center as far as I'm going during the election |
|
Now I'm moving back left where I belong. I'm a lefty-tree hugging-feminist-pinko-supporter of the homosexual agenda. Among other things/ideas/issues. And I plan to get busy.
