North Dakota getting less money for homeland security

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota is taking a hit in federal homeland security money this fiscal year, which could mean less funding for such things as local firefighting equipment.

A separate amount to help the state prepare for bioterrorism also has been reduced, leading to cutbacks in such areas as public health training and lab equipment.

The $14.4 million in homeland security money for fiscal 2005 is about $5 million less than the state received last year, said Wayne Baron, the homeland security team leader for the North Dakota Division of Emergency Management.

This year's funding includes a grant formerly administered separately by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, so the cut actually is closer to $6 million, Baron said.

3. Border control
Well, the other side of the coin is border control. Many roads just have a cone to get across the border.

Now, making the Canadian border like the Mexican border may not be a good idea either. It is a catch 22.

6. Yes, by flying model airplanes over crops
and spraying Saddam juice on them.

I've been too frightened to eat since I heard that one.
