8. See how honest we are? "Only one vote." Not at all like the Republicans.

2. I hate to sound like Nixon but ... THE MEDIA!
They're all asleep at the wheel and feeding/enabling all the other enemies (our apathy, BFEE, et al.).

14. but aren't they just the tools of one of the others?
aren't their controllers worse enemies?

I agree that they are enemies, but I don't see them as #1 enemies.

3. Moderates who would assume leadership
of the progressive movement and direct all the energy and resources of progressive activists toward a DLC corporate agenda in the name of reform.

4. I say it's the population's
collective apathy. If more people bothered to fact check what Faux and CNN say by using the internet, the Bu$h crime family would probably be in prison right now and the neocons would be the most reviled people in this country.

5. The IGNORANCE of the lemmings
especially those in red states who are so easily manipulated to vote against their own best interests. The gop plan will assuredly include blaming "liberals" for the coming economic harm that will descend upon red state families in the very near future. They will be bombarded with propaganda from fox and from the radio and from the pulpit; because the gop hate machine knows it will work.

6. Ambiguity
The biggest enemy is the ambiguity of the term "Progressive". You can't possible get a group of people together to push an agenda forward if you can't agree on what the goal is. And when I say agree on a goal, I don't mean vague apple pie and motherhood shit like "universal health care", "better education", or "a cleaner environment". I mean real, definitive solutions to problems.

18. what would be an example of such a goal?

19. Depends on the How
Universal health care is a good example of something everyone agrees to in theory, but once you put together a specific plan people start squabbling.

7. Remember that famous historical quote
"We have met the enemy and he is us".
Progressives are just too whimpy. We need to quit whispering and start SHOUTING.

Get mad.............

9. I voted Religious Right
Edited on Tue Dec-14-04 04:48 PM by Cats Against Frist
because without them to manipulate, Bush Co. and the neocons would be up shit creek without a gang of zombie automatons. Dittoheads and Freepers come in a close second with the Media and our own apathy tied for third.

The DLC and those guys don't exactly help, but no matter what their position, in the face of the "right-wing intellectual elite + corpo-fascists ---> hate radio/propaganda ---> the totalitarian-geared brains of the rapture freaks, freepers and dittoheads," it doesn't really matter WHAT you believe.

in the administration, the Radical Right think tanks (tax exempt, btw), the fundie churches, the Moonies, and the MSM.

12. 3 hours in and I'm a little amazed
More people (10) believe that the DLC is a bigger enemy to progressives than the bush family (2), the neocons (4) and the Rushbots (1) combined.

More people (10) believe the DLC is a bigger enemy than the religiously insane.

I'm no fan of the DLC, but I don't believe they are the #1 enemy.

13. I think maybe it's because the DLC is supposed to be "one of us"
We expect Bush, the neo-cons and the so-called christians to be evil. But with the DLC it feels like a matter of betrayal to many people, which launches things into a whole new level of animosity.

20. Its the media, stupids!
If not for them, the lies would not be as easily spread & repeated.

The DEMS at the top STILL dont seem to get this.

We will get nothing done until the media is exposed for what it is & reformed.
