2. Randi really disappointed in being unable to reach her
mentions problems like those mentioned on here and Olbermann. Randi seemed a little pissed.

3. Please keep us updated
Some of us (me too) are still at work and can't listen. Please let us know what she says and how she says it. She's supposed to be extremely rude and was banned by what's his name at MSNBC because of how she spoke to his staff.
I understand she was banned at DU, too

4. Sounds like there may have been miscommunications
phones not working, missed calls. It's weird -- it's almost as if Bev wants to do her own investigation and not get linked up with Conyers and co. Doesn't she realize that there's strength in numbers?

5. Randi not buying ANY of Bev's excuses
Edited on Tue Dec-14-04 06:29 PM by DancingBear
Randi closed the segment by saying "I wish it didn't have to be like this."

Commenting on how DU says she (Harris) is impossible to work with, wanted to know how she could piss off Keith O. when he is the only one reporting the story, wanted to know why Bev was not at the Ohio hearings, etc.

Bev Harris offered very lame excuses (didn't know where to go, missed calls, etc.). I was waiting for her to give a straight answer - I'm still waiting.

Randi was not buying, and, sadly, neither was I.

I think Bev Harris is turning into a persona non grata re: Randi and others in the vote fraud movement.

6. Randi not buying ANY of Bev's excuses
I'm new here.

I read Bev's book. I caught Randi's comments (strong, as usual), but has anyone considered what being a "novice" writer as Harris was, and the role she has undertaken as leading up to a partial breakdown?

This stuff does happen. I believe cool heads should analyze this

7. I'm alternating between sadness and anger
This destructive infighting is beginning to piss me off. Whether it's Dean vs DNC, or crapping on Michael Moore, somewhere it has to STOP. NOW. Bev just happens to be the target du jour.

How much of this is dirty freepers, posing as liberals, doing the dirty work???????

11. I'm no freeper and neither is Randi Rhodes or Keith Olbermann..
I think there is more to this than meets the eye, but speculation is a dangerous thing.

15. My head is starting to hurt
I lurked on this site for quite a while. Then, right after the election, I decided to get my feet wet as a poster.

I am an optimist by nature, and the general (not universal) solidarity in the few weeks after the election played into that and got me motivated and hopeful. It looked like everyone was fairly united, was going to resist * together, turn out in droves over vote fraud, donate resources, time, money, etc., etc.

Instead, things have gone sour. Factions are going at each other throats and fellow Democrats are going after Michael Moore, Howard Dean, Bev Harris, and even KO. Sometimes just for the sin of not being communicative, or for not doing things exactly the way that the attacker would do it.

I have a strong suspicion that a lot (not all) of it is phony, ginned up by the opposition using organized methods. Call me paranoid now. At the least, I'm a little disappointed that the unity of those mid-November days are history for the moment. My rampant optimism is, well, I just dont know . . .

23. Yes, opinions are like asses...
Everybody's got one. Since we are TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY OUT OF POWER.... Who cares? Let them all tear each other apart and lets see who survives.

Lots of things we could do...

1) Take back liberal institutions from "me too" Democrats (Ie The NEw Republic, NPR and The New York Times)

2) Get people fired... Thom Friedman, Judith Miller, Peter Beinart, ad nauseum... I not saying kick them out of the party, just get the hell off the top of OUR liberal media!

Write letters writer letters

10. If I remember correctly, Bev pulled this in 2002 also.
I could be wrong, but I seem to remember her going incommunicado for a while back then. For that reason, I was very hesitant about donating to her organization (BBV.Org), but I ended up sending them a nice sum. Too bad. She has pissed off Keith and pissed off Randy. Bev has (had) a responsibility to us supporters, and that responsibility was to communicate with us through the channels we are attuned to. Period.

They could end up in that motel room in Valdosta, Georgia. Know what I mean, Vern?

14. It was 2003, before the CA recall election...
She and the other people who were working together got in a big fight. Harris had been talking about doing a big votewatch project, but as it got closer to the election, we heard less and less from everyone who was involved. After the election Bev started pointing fingers at the others who pointed fingers back at her.

My impression at the time was that it seemed like a bad mix of personalities who didn't rise above their personality conflicts to give this issue a high enough profile.

It seems that RR -- by making the comment about Bev using the money to make a movie -- is implying that this is more about trying to get publicity for a Michael Moore-style documentary than it is about solving these problems. Obviously there's a conflict in interest between solving problems and making blockbusters. Often, conflict, tension and long drawn-out dramatic narrative arcs are a necessity for the latter but extremely unhelpful for the former.

Up until now, I've felt that motivations didn't matter -- and in fact, having motivations like getting a lot of publicity seemed to help drive this forward (where would this issue be today if not for BH?). Bev could have been a die-hard Republican, but if this was an important issue, it doesn't matter what her party affiliation is. But now, it seems that things have reached a point where people have to raise their game, be organized, and have really clear and powerful motivations for this problem to be solved.

17. Hmmmm, I wonder about Ms. Harris' motivations
Seems to me that the BBV thing has become about the messenger and not the message.

How many issues related to the Busheviks have ended up that way?

18. As usual, you get right to the heart of it.
Time after time the Bushies have managed to deflect any evidence of wrongdoing, by waging a campaign of character assassination against the messenger. Not saying that's the case here, and Bev may have burned more than a few bridges, but DAMN this looks familiar!

19. Think back, if she was being "fed" just enough to get her going on it
back in 2002, BAM, she's set up to become the issue rather than the machines.

It fits.

22. Accusing Democrats of stealing the election on WNYC:
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 12:13 PM by robbedvoter
"Whoo boy. Bev Harris turning on Democrats"

Anyone else hear her interview just now on WNYC? After a few minutes of letting her spew about the problems in Florida, the interviewer asked her about her credibility problems--he mentioned Keith Oberman and Democratic Underground. She really went off, and said that it's mostly Democratic groups trying to discredit her and that as far as she's concerned, just as much vote fraud in Florida was perpetrated by Democrats as Repubs.
Since the time I learned of the Clinton cigars, way back, I never believed she was a Democrat. Now, that's being confirmed.
