My brother is doing a report and needs help.
He's exploring whether or not a difference exists between the average income and general well-being of people who vote Democrat compared to those who vote Republican. I tried googling some stuff fpr him, but didn't really come up with anything substantial. Anyone who could direct me to information relating to this will be a real lifesaver.

1. People who think they are rich, vote for Republicans.
People who want the best opportunity to become rich vote Democratic.

2. He could extrapolate red welfare states versus blue states
The big $ states are the blue states; the red states (aka welfare states) take in more Fed monies than they give.

There's lots of info and gov sites with that info. Would that help?

3. See, I thought about that, but...
red states and blue states is such a broad an inaccurate grouping. We're really focusing on the demographics that traditionally vote certain ways.

4. The CW is rich vote republican; middle class and poor vote Dem

And the exception to that rule is the white poor South, who tend to vote as IF they were rich. IE republican.

There have been studies done on this, and I think Josh Marshall (Talking Points Memo) had a bunch of stuff on it. I'll see if I can find anything...
