George Bush, Economic Genius
Wow, his mastery of that economic stuff is just astounding. I guess all that "hard work" is paying off.

Bush noted that in addition to the budget deficit, America suffers from a huge trade deficit.

"That's easy to resolve," Bush said. "People can buy more United States products if they're worried about the trade deficit."

Bush's comments came a day after the government reported that America's trade deficit hit a monthly record of $55.5 billion in October.

3. And where do they get them?
And where do people get these U.S. made products, now that WalMart has put US manufacturing out of business?

8. Well, they still have the American flag all over everything.
But, with their undercut bidding process, they've caused all US manufacturers to go under. Now they're forced to buy from Mexico and China because no one makes the stuff anymore.

Maybe there are some prices that are just TOO low?

10. That's what I thought.
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 02:46 PM by BrainRants
It's a shame too, I thought Sam's vision was a little more palatable when they were rolling into small towns and crushing local merchants but only selling US products that created US jobs.

Now it's the worst of both worlds.

edit: grammar

12. No
Wally World tried the "buy American" gambit during one of the many recent spasms of rampant nationalism. The PR kinda fell apart when astute individuals pointed out that it was hard to do because you couldn't find anything made in America in a WalMart.

Ol' Sam built his vampire...er, empire...on selling the cheapest shit he could get his hands on, and he didn't care where it came from.

Just for the amusement value: Sam's first big retail coup came off a load of cheap ladies' panties. That's what he said in his autobiography.
