A Democrat told me the following story. A blue boat hit a red boat.
The sailors were all marooned. Then he told be that is what we should want for our country. For it to be not red or blue but maroon. I said that I wanted a blue country. He said I was wrong and that he and the Party would fight every step of the way to help the country be "maroon" That maroon was preferable to "blue". Maroon is what we should be. I said I would only work toward blue.I refuse to accept a maroon country. Anyone else feel that way?

1. Germany in 1940 was all maroon. Think about it.
They all (most of them) agreed to think alike and look what happened.

2. Maroon is still too red-ish
I'd accept a nice lavender.

Depends on the shade of red we're using of course. A lovely hue of fiscally conservative red can be nice, but neo-con dayglo blood red is just too garish to even consider.

3. Yep. I do. I'm partisan and proud.
We're right, they're wrong. Liberalism is morally, ethically and intellectually superior to conservatism. I will not compromise. Compromise gave us the idiot, the Iraq war and the rest of the shit we'll have to clean up once we regain power.

4. I'd be happy with purple
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 05:56 AM by Qanisqineq
It's a mix of both although I'd prefer it a little more of a bluish purple. I don't need everyone to think like I do, as long as their ideas are not constantly forced down my throat.

Edit: me grammar ain't so good this mornin' :P

5. The guy who told that story sounds like a maroon
I prefer a mix. Blue, green, blue-green, red, purple, and let's not forget pinko.

7. Tell him this...
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 09:22 AM by Stuckinthebush
If the Democratic Party goes for "maroon", then they will lose big.

Half of the blues will leave and become green and 1/4 of the blues will sit at home on election day because there is no party that represents them.

This blue dem will gladly walk away from a party that walks away from our ideals.

8. That Democrat is correct. Eventually the Republican Party will have to
change, in addition to Democrats taking the majority for at least a good number of years.
