3. But there aren't enough smart people to carry
an entire election, apparently (voting fraud aside).

4. Globalization
and the outsourcing and general smackdown of labor.

That is why we need to link fair trade with human rights.
This is a frame that fits within the golden rule. We let our desire for cheap goods blind us to the effects here and there. Now we must start
to even the labor market world wide, or the global trade that was supposed to lift all boats, will be a free fall for labor, into servitude.

9. Jobs, two Americas.
Jobs are going to a cheaper, foreign labor force -
Because some American companies can't compete with foreign companies -
Because foreign companies don't have to provide health insurance -
Because foreign nations have national health care.

Jobs are going to a skilled, trained foreign labor force -
Because foreign countries have free education at the college level.

If the US is going to stay a competitive nation and not turn into a third world country, US companies are going to have to hire American workers. Bush said if we are so concerned about it, start buying American products. Which electronic brands are made in the US? Which cars are completely made in the US? What fabrics and clothes are made here? There has been a constant migration for so long that some things are no longer made here.

Bush isn't worried about our economy. He has trust funds, inherited wealth and big oil money and he has made changes to the tax laws to make sure that it lasts a long time -- at our and our children's expense.

The neo-cons are destroying our country. When we are old, we can't retire. With the reform of our legal system, we cannot sue companies that screw us out of our retirement and there won't be a social security safety net. If we haven't saved and invested on our own, and made plans for our golden years, they won't be so golden.

As the "war" drags on it will be the issue still.

No one wants granny and gramps eating catfood.

We have to convince people that "reform" is GOP slang for "destroy."

15. Abortion.
Most of the country is pro-choice, as usual. Many Republicans are. The Republican Party Platform was anti-choice. Kerry emphasized choice less than Gore, and lost the popular vote by millions.

17. Populism
A party that is really for the people and not corporations. Clinton came across as an advocate for the common American as did John Edwards stump speech. The Republicans only care about feeding the corporate machinery. ie Enron.

18. Balancing the budget and reducing the federal debt (not just the deficit)
Think about why Ross Perot did so well. He was pretty much a broken record talking about the federal debt. he garnered 20% of the vote. If you add that to Clinton's take, that is a pretty large percentage of the electorate that would vote for democratic issues and the balanced budget.

19. we "win" on every issue
but since the coup of 2000, it is impossible to win an election.

When the bushturd has finished looting the treasury, they'll abandon power and allow whatever system can emerge in the chaos to move in.

20. Ownership
Take the ownership society term and use it against the Republicans. Hold them accountable for fiscal irresponsibility, alienation of our allies, 911 during a Republican admin/congress, jobs and economic downturns, loss of healthcare for millions more, corporate scandals,...they control all so they own it all.

21. Social Security will resonate with working class voters.
Social Security will resonate with the working class voters.
The working class does not want to destroy their safety net and any guaranteed hope they may have for some dignity in old age. There are also the additional benefits of the built-in disability and survivors insurance. The Democratic Party only has to make a unified effort to access the media machine to state the obvious but I have no confidence they can effectively present this message. If the Democratic Party can not stand united on this basic issue they can forget about being an effective national party. The working class with a majority voting base has to be the supported so they can be motivated to support a favorable "MANDATE" in 2006 and beyond.
