Poll question: Was the DLC responsible for the Kennedy assassination?
Look at the evidence: The Northeasterner Kennedy was gotten out of the way and replaced by the Southerner, and more conservative, Johnson. I think it's very likely. On the minus side, the DLC didn't exist back then, but still, the DLC are a crafty bunch of people, and would find a way around that little obstacle.

15. The bastards at the DLC should merge with the Repugs
They are such neo-con ass ki$$ers that I bet the RLC is MORE PROGRESSIVE than the DLC at this point! Wouldn't suprise me if they conspired with chimp to ice Senator Wellstone either. He was ruining their precious little "centrist" image.

THE DLC...PROUDLY CO-OPING THE REPUGS SINCE 1985!

operate a bolt-action without blowing his foot off... imagine his pants-shitting horror when he reaps the Great Society, the rise of identity politics, and civil rights legislation that untethers the South from the Democrats. He would however, get to enjoy 5 years of a Democrat-administered "muscular" foreign policy, so it wouldn't be a total wash.

...beyond sarcasm when you make light of a president's assassination AND the concerns many Democrats have about a small group of men (not dissimilar to the small group of men who have usurped our government) who are taking 'our' party in a rightward direction against the will of the majority.

But one expexts these types of tactics from those who support the DLC and their agenda. To infer a 'conspiracy theory' and ridicule difference of opinion is their SOP.

What's next? Labeling as 'Anti-American' anyone who doesn't follow the DLC without complaint or doesn't agree with the PNAC/Bush* Doctrine of Aggressive Wars?

...that there are only a handful of DLC supporters/operatives on this board and their thinking reflects that of Al From and gang. Instead of expressing a desire for discussion and critical thinking on the issues...they prefer to ridicule and demonize.

How about a discussion on why the DLC supports many Bush* policies? Like the 'war on terrorism' in Iraq? Or any number of issues of concern to ALL Democrats?

... the left has lost we have a right to be angry.

The problem rests not just with the DLC, but they are the most visible proponent of the failed "lets be more like Reps" policies that have made the Dem party moot to a lot of the electorate.

We also need to clean house at the DNC, these mental midgets are getting us nowhere either.

I have read this thread up to this point with some interest and I cannot help but asking Green Ohio...aren't Al From and some others from DLC, demonizing Michael Moore on every talk show they can possibly get booked on? Aren't they trying to distance themselves from the liberal arm of this party? Would you say that by demonizing Moore that they think shrinking the party is the best way to get back into power? (You said that of another poster in an earlier post in this thread.)

I mean, THEY (the DLC) are doing the public demonizing of a man who did the work that the DLC and its puppet, DNC SHOULD have been doing. At no time during the entire campaign, did I hear a single one of them make a strong defense of our candidate or point out weaknesses in the Republican strategy for governing America.

Why aren't they taking this vital tv time to demonize Bush for his Social Security privatization proposal? Why aren't they fighting to leave Social Security alone instead of weakly agreeing that "some changes need to be made" when they KNOW that NO changes need to be made?

It is the DLC that is attacking the Democratic Party because it fears losing control and power over the DNC and the wealth that it brings to them personally.

92. You mention a lot of hardworking
democratic politicians but where the hell are they when they are needed? They are most certainly not making a lot of continuous noise about the lies that the rightwing is telling. If I have ever seen even one of the names you mention on a tv talk show, it cannot have been more than once. What hard work are they doing? Working undercover is NOT what we need right now. I AM demonizing the entire lot of those on the DLC roster specifically because they are NOT out there publicly decrying the lies that the rightwing is telling. Nor are they disputing the lies that Al From is telling.

Can you honestly tell me that you do not believe that these politicans are not more concerned with the corporate donations they need to get re-elected than they are about our concerns? Why should they care if our party is in the White House or not? They get to wield power by pure virtue of being in DC. They network, meet and influence, and get favors and jobs for the future. You are very busy defending some people who are most certainly not defending YOUR rights.

As far as whatever Party Michael Moore belongs to, I still say that Al From is demonizing him for doing the work that the DLC, as the leading component of the DNC, SHOULD have been doing. Can you tell me that it is not wrong for From to spend his time on talk shows lamblasting Moore instead of lamblasting Bush & Co's policies?

54. Much as I despise the DLC
I still think it was Bush Sr. and his gang who pulled off the assassination.

Maybe some members of DLC were then Republicans and had a hand in it, though. How old was Al From at the time? I can't stand that Moore-bashing fat-head POS.

58. Only if you think Lyndon Johnson was DLC!
Personally I think he was the original neocon and would have been a Republican today. His social programs sounded good but even with Dem congresses they never quite hit the mark to make a "Great Society".

I think Johnson had Kennedy killed because he was about to be indicted for conspiracy to commit murder in Texas. That put a stop to it.

Read the book by Barr McClellan, not a perfect book, and has lots of holes, but an interesting theory (I can't remember the title, but it is about Johnson having Kennedy killed. He gives a GREAT history of Texas politics)

I also think the BFEE was involved in it as well as they were down in Texas and Oil and money were more important than party affiliation in Texas politics back then.

answer it deserves.

Ever heard the saying, "Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer"?

89. guilty of same

I'm tired of the obsessiveness. It's not like the DLC has meaningful support around here, so this is our small way of telling all the, uh, subgeniuses to stop attacking this here mere windmill that way.

69. 45% of Americans consider themselves to be
a moderate. I worry that the DEMS could alienate them by going too far to the left, and hope and pray the GOP alientates them by continuing their tilt to the far right.

I know the more liberal supporters of the Democratic Party hate to hear it (and will probably flame me as a troll disrupter since I am fairly new here...), but the smallest block of voters (21%) are self-professed liberals. If the Democratic Party runs off the moderates, they are doomed to be a minority party.

No, I don't advocate going to the far right, just to the center enough to regain the majority!

70. The Republicans got rid of BOTH Kennedys because they were afraid it was
going to be the beginning of a Kennedy "dynasty".

Now if it had been a Republican, it will be more than o.k. to have a dynasty - like say - Bush.

75. Since we don't have time travel
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 04:34 PM by demwing
I'm inclined to say no.

But, since the future extends forward into enternity, and since given an eternal number of opportunities, we may actually break the time travel barrier! So I suppose the future DLCers could have come back and killed Kennedy. In fact, Ross Perot is kinda funny looking. I bet he's really a DLC Dem from the future, sent to help Clinton split the Repuke vote.

Yep.

Of course, if they were able to do that, then obviously they live in the distant future, a future where we all look like Ross Perot, a future where they would have a completely bitchen version of Photoshop, and the ability to fake any photo without risk of detection. If so, why haven't they faxed us some pics of W having sex with a puppy dog, no..TWO puppy dogs, on the Whitehouse lawn on Christmas eve?

With Pat Robertson filming it?

Hmmmm? Help us out a little? Just a little?

So much for my "theories."

Fortunatly, the DLC was not around at that time. If they were, they would not have taken part in it but they would have nodded their head in approval of this henous act. Also, they would of opposed Civil Rights and Medicare.

98. NO, No, NO-- It was a, Mr George H.W. Bush of the CIA and...
I'm pretty sure V.P. Johnson "let it happen" and the Texas Republicans (and maybe the Texas Democrats, wasn't much difference back then) were in on it.

I'm even sure of where the 'Kill shot" came from too. It wasn't the Grassy knoll or the TSBD. :smoke:

Anyone who still had a question should see "The Men who Killed Kennedy" from The History Channel. That is the first EVER Honest, complete, "show everything and let you decide," presentation of the people, places, motives, geometry, EVERYTHING.

It's so good, they where forced to apologize (several months later) to the Johnson Family, for what was implied in the series
