Show You Want on AAR
What show would you like to hear on AAR? What personalities would you like to be given a show on AAR?

1. Joe Conason is always good on Franken; yesterday he
did the "Mark" bit and gave Mark SERIOUS qualms about Rush.

I'd even take Joe over Franken. Franken's entertaining at times, but he just doesn't have any hard news skills or persuasive powers.

3. Another good choice. "Dittohead" from yesterday was a real
classic. I wonder if anyone has a stream of it?

Anyone?

*** FACT CHECK **** (Conason vs. Rush)

The thrust of Conason's comments on Rush was that he is a "phony populist." Specifically, he is really a member of the "conservative elite": while he pretends to argue the point of view of the "little guy" (vs the "liberal elite"), he is living high on the hog - like any millionaire entertainer would - and laughing all the way to the bank.

As evidence, Conason cited an interview from "Cigar Aficionado" in which Rush claims to favor $2000/bottle FRENCH wines and CUBAN ("communist") cigars. Rush loves Paris and San Francisco as travel destinations.

Lucky for us, the whole piece is online and I have spot-checked a few of Conason's claims. They check out, perfectly.

a solid progressive.

5. "The Marks" are great in the morning!
Great balance of wit, anger, passion, etc.

I'd like to hear some of the other comedians from Colin Quinn's Tough Crowd on Comedy Central (maybe even Quinn). I know Quinn leaned repug, but he's funny and the banter was always good (when it didn't descend to shouting matches)

The comedy slant across the board on AAR is great, you have to make people laugh with * in for another four, the right wing echo chamber is depressing, AAR is a breath of fresh air!

6. Too bad they are so intent to ignore voter fraud and they are
perfectly clueless in interviews. Sue Elicott provided some journalistic weight in the beginning. I was cringing when the 2 marks would have say, Fineman on and allow him to make a battery of talking points for BFEE with just "u-huh" intrerrupting the propaganda. After their vicious ridiculing of people who care about their voting rights I stopped listening to that 9as well as Franken - so I missed Joe yesterday). I say, get rid of Franken - replace him with Joe permanently, find for the morning show some people who are both funny AND politically savy/passionate about what matters. No name comes to mind, but I am sure they are out there.

35. Bill Maher
He is good at interviewing people. He does not allow people to walk all over him and he can be funny. The only thing some people might not like is that he has right wingers on his show. However, he might make a really good show, especially late at night on Fridays.

weekly than daily format - quite funny in fact.
But, please, please - have the Satellite Sisters killed in a far away place and burried very deep! What crappy radio!

not the only one who thinks the Satellite Sisters is a pure waste of time. Who in the world can they be flirting with to keep that crap on the radio? I want to puke everytime I hear them. Talk about rushing to turn the radio off - I don't care WHAT is on tv when they come on. I will turn on almost ANYTHING else so as not to have to listen to them. YUK!

14. Tavis Smiley ,
I'm a white Volvo driving suberban houswife and
I want Tavis Smiley .

AAR Radio needs more Soul IMHO.

I also would love more fresh shows on the
weekends.

I wonder if Molly Ivans is interested in a
30 minute spot on the weekends

We have some many untapped resources .

Jaun Gonzales should also get a weekend spot

I suggest short weekend shows with lots of
variety , keep it moving fast paced possibly
even a young person's show ...There is so much
Talent out there .

27. I love Unfiltered, unfortunately our local station has chosen
to replace it with a local moderate who was fired from a local RW station for opposing the Iraq invasion.

Opposing the war in Iraq doesn't make one progressive, it just makes you intelligent.

28. Yeah - Phoenix radio has
decided to cut the girls and Chuck loose for Charles "The Libertarian" Goyette.

He's better than most, but nowhere near the program that Unfiltered is.

If you ask me they should have let Ed Schultz go instead.

So, it's back to XM radio for my dose of Unfiltered in the morning.

Get rid of Morning Sedition which truly sucks.

We need liberal radio voices that pumps people up the same way that Rush and hannity and O'Reilly do for the Repubs. All the damned comedy is for the birds. Who the hell smoked a joint and thought up that kind of programming. Hell, if comedy is the thing then call Jerry Seinfeld (or is he Repub?)

36. Yes. but Malloy's time slot is
not very good here in NYC. He comes on at 10pm and is cut off by local programming at midnight. He is a far more interesting radio commentator and is certainly more fired up than Mark Moran of Morning Sedition. If I wanted a comedy show, I would turn on tv. I want to hear a commentator that fires up the Democratic base and brings in NEW democratic voters the same as Limbaugh and O'Reilly and Hannity do for the Repubs.

Did you see Moyer's last show last night. His guest, whose name I do not know, was a major Republican who said that they, the Republicans were fighting with any means necessary while the Democrats were still playing the old game of "let's be fair in all of this." He specifically talked about how the Republicans had taken over the entire media, while the Dems sat back and thought, "Oh, they will surely play fair."

I like Joe Kennedy's "Ring of Fire" that comes on only on Saturdays. I wish it was on thru the week.

He's on OutQ, Sirius Satellite's gay/lesbian stream, and he's a complete and total progressive -- and fearless, to boot. He'd be great.

I've also enjoyed Thom Hartmann, who seems less laid back than he was when he was on I.E. America (and Randi's pushing him).

34. Brother Bernie's other program, 'God Talk', would be a big hit.
It'd be a natural and instant success for AAR. Fair and balanced program to counter the White Wing Fundy movement. Brother Bernie is always at his best when he toys with a 'Bible thumper'. Heck, that's why we call him the 'Lion of the Left', because he eats all BAC's thrown in his direction.

32. I vote for Bernie
we need a little more venom. When Joe & Katherine were playing clips from the Freedom Medla ceremony the other day, they'd play a quote from Smirk and then say, 'That's speculation'. Bernie or Randi or Malloy would have called the statement what it was - a LIE.

39. What I have always wondered about AAR
is why on Saturday night they depart from the political call in talk show format to do music shows with Kyle Jason and Steve Earle?
I'm from Tennessee and a long time fan of Steve Earle, but would much rather him do a call in talk show instead of an almost pure music show.
And I have nothing against Kyle Jason either.
Yes, I do enjoy the music but, as I listen via Sirius ( and AAR is the only reason I have Sirius) I could have something like 130 channels of commercial free music. But, I'm all politics all of the time these days. We are in a crisis as long as Smirk and Snarl are in power. When we get our country back maybe I'll have time to enjoy music again.
I'd much rather see those time slots used to give an up and coming liberal talk show a shot. I've even thought of a "Blue collar" talk show themed not from and to intellectual folks, but on how the neo cons are affecting the average working person. It would give those folks a much needed alternative to WABC/limbaugh. I was a carpet layer for 27 years. I'd love to do it.
Anyway, that's my take

Wiley
