1. To distract us from what?
The White House has just praised Rumsfeld.

3. So they can 'give in to public pressure' and show how agreeable they are
by pretending to can his ass? He has to be about ready to kick back, rest on his laurels and then grudgingly accept a high paying job in the private sector. Especially since he has helped make the private sector so profitable at the expense of tens of thousands of innocent lives.

5. I think it's smoke and mirrors
to distract from the machinations for the NEW Sec'y of Defense --
McCain.

THAT would be big enough "news" to smother lots of real news, and give the talking heads weeks, nay months, of bulldookey.

10. Dont' know about McCain
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 06:06 PM by CatholicEdHead
He has been one of the biggest bashers (and W butt kissers during the election) of Rumsfeld.

Many in the GOP think McCain is a RINO sellout. That would upset the base.

It is Rove's doing as Sen Coleman, Weekly Standard, Fox News, etc... all talked the same so soon. It is an orchestrated move from Rove.

My belief is that Rummy will step down in "Victory" in Januaray after the "election" in Iraq next month. He will then get a Presdential Medal and be put out to pasture to lobby for big business.

Outside intrests want Wolferitz to take control. Probably for a Syria Campaign via the Israeli Likud/US Born-Again lobby or an Iran Campaign for the Natural Gas reserves.

8. I felt safer with Alex in charge, with pa-pa in flight and Ronnie
felt might, it's the same feeling, always uptight.
