Smokin Joe Connason reports on AAR today that Begala may be DNC Chair |
|
I heard Joe on AAR today where he was subbing for Al Franken. In a discussion he said he's heard over the weekend that Paul Begala may be in the hunt for DNC chair.
Has anyone else heard this? If true, what're your feelings about it?

Begala is a joke.
He would make a nice fuck-toy for the Republicans though...

Any party with him as the chair is not a party that wants me or my friends.
He's a pathetic traitor.

5. I'd say Begala would need to seriously sharpen his focus, cuz I'm not sure |
|
he sees the media and voting machines as the most important factors in retaining ANY democracy in this country.
If he proves me wrong, FINE....but, so far I only see that Dean has even entered the arena on those two issues.

factors.
I'm not crazy about when he blames the Dem party, because I think Dems and the platform are fine for the most part and I don't find dumping on Dems to be constructive. However, I do think he's ahead of the others on the issues that ARE material, which are the GOP control of the media and the voting machines.
He hasn't been a real advocate for those issues enough to make a difference, but, I think he'll get the full grasp eventually.
If someone else voices a better understanding of those very real problems, then I'll switch to them.
My loyalty is only to courage, competence and real action that makes a difference to whether or not we remain a free country.

He's a bit lame, but he helped Clinton win the nomination.
I support Dean first, but would not have an issue with it being Begala.

Well, no. At some point I will post my big apology to Dean. Simply, it would have been more fun to see him run. I now believe that Dean would have given Bush the most headaches (besides Clark and maybe Edwards).

Heh heh.

I remember initially I supported Dean because I felt he was the ONLY one who could kick Bush's ass in the GE.
We'll never know of course, but I agree that Clark or Edwards would have given him a run for his money also.
The problem with Dean was he let the "grass roots" become the campaign, and it lacked structure. I think he needed a bit more structure and of course the grass roots as well. Kind of like Wellstone did things in Minnesota. He was very grass roots, but also politically astute.
Peace. :hippie:

What they have NO LONGER WORKS and I've said it again and again, but we're just NOT running against Bob Dole anymore. We don't need them back in STRONGER LEADERSHIP POSITIONS.

He was a National Guardsman who somehow missed a year of service. He was a failed businessman who somehow was made rich. He was a minority investor who somehow was made managing partner of the Texas Rangers. He was a defeated politician who somehow was made governor. You can hardly blame him for expecting to inherit the White House.
"Is Our Children Learning?" examines the public life and public record of George W. Bush and reveals him for who he is: a man who presents the thinnest, weakest, least impressive record in public life of any major party nominee this century; a man who at every critical juncture has been propelled upward by the forces of wealth, privilege, status, and special interests who use his family's name for their private gain.
A Texan, political analyst, strategist, and partisan, Paul Begala has written a devastating assessment of the Bush brand of politics."http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0743214781.01._PIdp-schmooS,TopRight,7,-26_SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpgThe guys got some stuff when he wants to. Make no mistake, I'm a Dean for DNC backer, but I can handle Begala.

23. Paul Begala? Now I`m really laughing! |
|
Begala should take his Crossfire act and put it to good use in a circus. He`s another middle-of-the-roader who`ll gladly tear up Democrats if it will get him a louder laugh than the one Tucker Carlson got.
The Democratic Party needs a total overhaul, not reliance on the same old tired beltway insiders who have helped about ruin us.

26. Right now, I see Dean as our best shot for an effective DNC chair |
|
When I first heard this on AAR today, my initial reaction was "no fucking way". I am, on reflection, less hardline, but no less convinced he is not the right guy. He has a lot that we need, not the least of which is an understanding of the media from the inside. That alone, however does not qualify him. In fact, in many ways both he and Carville have become cartoons of their former selves, largely as a result of Crossfire.
We absolutely need the media savvy. I'm not sure we need Begala as DNC chair .....
So, I'll stay with my first choice, Howard Dean. For reasons discussed widely in other threads.
