Life Must Be So Easy As A Republican
Edited on Sun Dec-19-04 11:31 AM by Magic Rat
Imagine belonging to a party that catered to your every extremist whim.

Imagine belonging to a party that didn't care if it offended people in its pursuit of its ideals.

Imagine belonging to a party that fights like hell and never gives up.

Imagine belonging to a party that always believes it is right and oozes confidence, and arrogance and smugness.

Imagine belonging to a party that would do anything to win, legal or illegal.

Imagine belonging to a party where the most dedicated were treated with the most reverence instead of like lepers to be avoided or kept in the closet.

Imagine having an entire medium - radio, on your side.

Imagine having another one - cable news - also.

Imagine being able to co-opt an entire religion and use it to your advantage.

Imagine having an opposition whose first thought when framing an argument is how YOU would counter that argument.

Imagine controlling all three brances of the federal government and still feeling like you're the outsider who gets no respect.

Imagine being absolutely fucking insane, but being able to get people not to notice.

Imagine treating your oppoenents like $2 crack whores and having them want to work with you instead of fight you.

Yes, life must be pretty good as a Republican.

I don't like them.

I don't respect them.

But I damn sure envy them.

2. You just detailed Rush Limbaugh's program
that he repeats day after day, month after month, year after year.

An especially harmful and destructive point that Limbaugh makes over and over again is that if a "conservative" is racist, sexist, homophobic, offensive or just plain wrong on the facts; well, that just proves the "conservative" (read fascist) is CORRECT!!!

Skulls full of mush, indeed.

3. That's not MY party...
If my party was the same party that used to fight for personal liberties and civil rights. If it was the same party that sought long-term solutions. If it was the party that spent money to pursue new energies instead of investing in stealing it from others. If it was the party who would be willing to step up and tell the American people that we needed fiscal restraint...

Then I'd be thrilled to be a Republican right now.

These motherfuckers are not Republican... I am.

4. Sometimes being a majority works against you
I remember in the 80's with the house nice and secure for dems they could never get anything done. The liberals would want to go one way and many times the conservative dems sided with the reps and we lost the issue even though we had a clear majority of seats. I think the same thing is going to happen to republicans and moderates will be getting pissed off and siding with us soon.

My biggest hope is that the religious neocons get so cocky that they go for Pat Robinson or someone like him in 2008. We need an easy target.
