WV Capitol Building

RW family member was trying to say that the Building's dome is gold and that when Democrats are in charge, they gold plate it. When the Republicans are in charge, they take it down and "give the money back to the people."

Was he just spouting shit or is this true? I've never heard anything about this before.

to cut it short...... spouting shit. it's always gold. i'm not even sure how they'd "take it down," but that would seem to be cost prohibitive to the point that it would indeed be 'giving it to the people,' in typical republican fashion, with the peoples' pants down.


there's only maintenance on it, from when the filth in the air tarnishes it, and it gets a bit stained in parts. it's beautiful shining with the surrounding backdrops that way.

and that is also why wv is the most ghetto state in the nation..... can't afford to put a bridge across a creek, but we're stunnin' with our gold leaf capital bling :P

Here in Georgia, I think I've seen them do maintenance twice in Twenty years. Our Gold Dome sits right next to the Ghetto too. :crazy:

It was just paint(I think) in the Arch Moore era but that was because Reagan was in office and there was no money to gold plate it because the state was going broke, it wasn't really a give back to taxpayers thing it was cause Reagan sent all the WV manufacturing jobs overseas.
