We are missing an opportunity with Rumsfailed |
|
I am almost apoplectic. How long do you think it would take for KKKarl Rove and the Swift Boat Liars to get a 30 second add on the air if the Defense Secretary for a Democratic Admin had made such a statement about armor? I'll tell you, so fast that it would make your head spin. By now Faux News and Rush and Insanity would have been providing 24 hour coverage, playing the ad with the SECDEF's own words recorded over, and over, and over again. Where in the hell is MoveOn? Where in the hell is the DLC?
It is not too early to start on the 06 Mid-term elections. There should be a 30 second ad with the SECDEF blaming the troops and demonstrating his support (hint: "You can have all the armor you want and still get blown up") saturating every fricking state in the union. For once, I would like to see the game played on our terms. It would be nice if saturation of an issue by the mainstream media would finally require Faux news to cover it, vice the other way around. We are losing before the game is even started.

1. The DLC can be found snuggling right up alongside the Rethugs, IMO |

I am leaning more and more to the theory that they are two sides of the same coin. You've got a few outliers, Democrats who presumably haven't gotten the memo and are still identifiable as Democrats, but they're being marginalized by the Dem "leadership" just as much as by the extremist Republicans. Sort of like a good cop/bad cop scenario.
Right after the election I thought the Democratic Party was interested in our grassroots input, but no, I think they are only interested in dictating direction--that's their definition of "leadership". For the first time in my life I am contemplating what it would mean to switch my allegiance to a third party. It still shocks me to think that--but that's how dire I think things have become.

2. You want 2006 elections - start on voter fraud. |
|
Rumsfield is no "opportunity" - for anyone.

No opportunity? No opportunity??? This could completely blow away the whole "Dem's are soft on defense, Dem's hate the military, Dem's don't support the troops" madness. You ask the typical American who is stronger on defense and supports the troops more, Repukes or Dems, and over 50% will answer Repukes. The SECDEF's behavior and remarks flies in the face of that false notion.
If you don't think we need to chip away at this "support the troops, tough on defense BS", then what do you propose we do? Since this is a never ending war, as long as the false notion is not challenged, we might as well be out of power for the entire unending war on terror. That prospect scares the hell out of me. How about you?

rummies. it doesn't matter. robbedvoter got it right. it's about the cornerstone of democracy: fair and clean elections. and we need to focus on that and not about any nonsense the media and bushco push on us. they need a scapegoat and diversion and they got both. whoop de doo doo.
