What would the politics be if we created a day for Gay couples |
|
I believe in equal rights for everyone and looking at the calender I can't find one day created for same sex couples. I was thinking about this the other day and I would love to create a day for people that have significant others of the same sex.
What would the holiday be called, what date should it be on and does this sound like a good idea? My weakness is the wrong kind of men so my idea might be far fetched.
Good Idea or bad Idea?

1. Is there one dedicated to hetero couples? |

Labor day is for workers, supposedly.
'Patriot Day' is for Bushko* because the use of the word 'patriot' suggests ONLY that 3000 people died for him, which makes them pariots to him.
'Valentines day' is for sex. (edit: If there's an unspoken hetero meaning to V-Day (except V-D), I don't know about it.)
Christmas is for buying and swapping things celebrating the birth of Jesus, who seemed to have been killed in vain.
I don't recall of any that's pro-hetero. Apart frm Mother's Day and Father's Day, both those were both created for the greeting card companies.

4. I was listening to a right wing idiot a few weeks ago in my class |
|
She called valentines day a straight couples day which was completely off the wall. I think that we should respect people more and other people that have no respect might start rethinking about the way that they view other people.
Think about all of the books that people could write and stores like Borders and Barnes Noble would have to carry them and kids could learn from the books if their parents refused to talk about the issue.
There is so much hate going around in this world these days. We need to show respect for people more often than we do because the kids learn by it. Kids are the future and if we teach them right our world will be a better place to live in.

5. Borders and Barnes Noble would have to carry more books |
|
If they carry more books on the subject than kids would learn about people. The more people know the less likely they are to hate.
I was trying to come up with a gift for my friends so I went to look for a book and guess what..no books on the subject. Well, there are books but stores like Barnes Noble and Borders don't carry them. Why? If they had a celebration day than they would have to carry the books because it's dealing with a holiday and they couldn't use any type of excuse.

Good luck getting that done. How about we treat gay people just like, I don't know, people? It's not like they're doing anything spectacular by being gay, their just normal, everyday folk heroes like you or me.

Why are they always out of books or they can't find a need to carry a book about the topic at major book stores?
