Could we do what the repigs did with the gay marriage issue? |
|
For instance, we could put initiatives up in states regarding minimum wage or global warming, and then demagouge the repigs when they don't support them.

we're still fighting them over whether evolution can be taught without mentioning "divine intervention" or "intelligent design."
With the issue of global warming, they don't care. A lot of them are trying to use up earth's resources so it will hurry the rapture along. As for minimum wage, they'll turn it into a battle over "living wage" (from the fanatical left) rather than just minimum wage.
With those things said, it's still worth a shot. Anything that helps educate those who steadfastly refuse to vote because they don't think it matters always helps.

2. In the battleground states - that's where it would work |
|
Florida passed an increase in the min. wage initiative this last time around, by like three million votes more in favor. To bad Kerry and the Dems didn't capitalize on that.

I'm in one of the two blue counties and after this last election I feel like I live in a bubble.
As for whether Kerry and the Democratic party captialized on anything is up for debate. I know that what you see and hear on television isn't always a fair depiction of reality. For all I know it was utilized in Florida as a more localized campaign strategy. I do live in northeast Kansas so I get both Kansas and Missouri stations. I got to see campaign commericals that those in non-swing states didn't. Some of the commercials were tailored to specific groups in some instances.
It is amazing what is covered in one area and not another. It is also interesting to see how things are covered. For example, Larry King is talking about the Kansas fetus thief (she's probably a Christian) but it doesn't warrant much more than a couple of minutes on local broadcasts. It is also interesting to note that this is a fetus while Scott Peterson was convicted of killing his son Connor. I guess a fetus only warrants a name if it is pre-election fodder.
