Back by unpopular demand | (* polls tanking pre-Inaugural)
Back by unpopular demand
Come next month, Bush's Inauguration Day approval ratings may be the worst of any president in modern-day history.

By Eric Boehlert

Dec. 21, 2004 | Republicans like to brag about the sweeping mandate that President Bush received on Election Day. But as he prepares for his second term, Bush approaches Inauguration Day with historically weak job-approval ratings, according to a series of new opinion polls. Unless there's a dramatic turnaround in public sentiment between now and Jan. 20, Bush will be sworn in to office with the lowest job-approval rating -- barely 50 percent -- of any president in the last 80 years, or since modern-day presidential polling began.

"It's striking how weak he is right now," says presidential historian Richard Shenkman, editor of George Mason University's History News Network. "You'd have to go back to Woodrow Wilson to find a president who was reelected in a position as weak as this one. There's been no euphoria around Bush's win."

Since his 3-percentage-point win over Sen. John Kerry, Bush has experienced a complete lack of bounce in the polls. In fact, in at least one national survey, Fox News' Opinion Dynamics poll, conducted Dec. 14-15, Bush's approval rating has fallen five points in the last month, to 48 percent. In other polls, including Washington Post-ABC, NBC/Wall Street Journal, Pew Research Center, Associated Press-Ipsos, Zogby, and Gallup, Bush's already soft approval numbers have flat-lined since the election. That phenomenon stands in sharp contrast to U.S. history, when presidents voted into office for a second term, even after close elections, routinely have received robust approval ratings.

1. Why is he so weak in the polls?
I'll tell you why...

He didn't win the election and the majority of voters are pissed at the vote fraud.

3. Because his performance sucks, that's why.
The real question is why he won the election despite sucking so bad.

2. Not striking at all. Propaganda and vote rigging
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 09:58 AM by tom_paine
1) Vote-Rigging: I have always said that the Busheviks, by tried and tested manual and electronic disnfranchisement techniques (from "soft" techniques like making sure hevaily Democratic areas didn't get enough voting machines and Bushevik Voter Regsistration Workers tossing Democratic Regstration Forms to the harder stuff, like manipulation of optical scan machines and tally sheets) had a 8-10% swing rigged in previous to the "election".

Yep, it looks like Kerry won by 4-6%.

2) Propaganda: For a notoriously desentsitized populace such as the Imperial Subjects of Amerika, particulary given that we still have many people who remember what Free America was like, propaganda must be continuously applied or it's effect falls away (except among the programmed/converted best exemplified by Nazi and Bushevik Party Members).

Thus, the entirety of the Imperial Approval Ratings have followed a constant trend.

Propaganda Event. The numbers inavriably settle to the Programmed Party Loyalists. Then a new propaganda event is created.

THAT is why Osama's Pro-Bush Cam,paign commercial, released 48 hours before the "election", was so effective. The spike that little Bush Production made did not have time to settle and MANY frighetend people voted on the fear generated by the Osama and the "Amerikan Taliban" (another Bush Propaganda Special) videos.

7. It's pretty astonishing......
....that a freshly re-elected president with an alleged "man date" doesn't even have a 50% approval rating.

10. Nah...doesn't matter now
No more need for phony terra-lerts, at least from
this idiotic administration. They have a "mandate",
don't you know.

Look for some form of excitement in Spring of 2008.
Something to emphasize to the sheeple why they need
to stay the course with another Repub. One who will
pick up the Dubya banner and run with it.

I can hardly wait to see who Rove appoints as shrub's
successor-in-chief.

9. It all makes sense if you assume they stole the election
Let's see, he actually has a higher disapproval than approval rating, most people think his war is a disaster, and most people don't want him to "fix" social security...

BUT THEY VOTED FOR HIM... or so we're told.
