Contest the Vote!
Please sign this petition to let your senators know that you want them to participate in jointly contesting the 2004 election when Congress reconvenes in January.

1. Done and kicked
Please everyone write, call or e-mail your senators (even if they are Repubs) to stand against the electoral vote on Jan. 6th. This will not overturn the election but it will get the message out loud and clear that our voting system is broke and needs serious fixing and fast.

5. This may be a dumb question but...
What exactly does happen if the election is contested by one Senator and one Representative? The first I had ever heard about this was in "Fahrenheit 9/11" so I'm shamefully clueless. Thanks for the help!

Signed and kicked.

6. Signed
On Jan6, 2005 there will be a joint session of congress to certify the election. It takes one member of the House and one member of the Senate to stand up and object, where then all of the members would discuss the election. We still need one Senator to stand up for this.

7. What would be the point?
Nothing would come of it. The reps who contested it last time got their say in anyway, even though no senators went along with them.

8. That's pretty much what I thought!
Just a formality. But it would look good for those of us who want the Democrats to take a firm stand from day one (me included!). Not contesting it in some way would make the party look more ready to cave from the get go.

Thanks
