3. It seems to be an award now adays though
they didn't want to make OBL person of the year in 2001 despite the fact that nobody had more influence on global events that year than him.

5. The person of the year
is the person who did the most in the year for good or in the case of bush for evil.

They don't know that it isn't, and you better believe BushCo will exploit that ignorance.

So good for you Keith. Time should have known better.

14. Yes I told them why
Their excuse that Hitler and others were on the list does not fly when looking at the magazine. Every article is a glowing portrayal with a little offhanded criticism. The strongest criticism is that history will not be kind to him. You would have to be a "dumb f*ck" to not see the extreme damage he is doing now!! Who needs to wait for history. Reading the glowing portrayal in the magazine and at the same time hearing the news of 24 more dead put me into an awful rage.

23. Good for you! I'm proud!
I cancelled my AOL service the day after the RNC last summer, when they posted an Electoral map on their website, in which they projected that the entire U.S. was Red...except for the 4 EV's in D.C.
THAT made me see 'red'...so I immediately called and cancelled...AND told them why. And the person taking my cancellation agreed with me.

15. My letter to Time and hey, just got a LAME response!!

Subject: Person of the Year (Re: Bush is a War Criminal...)

It is absolutely hideous to give praise to Bush and his thugs.
They have attempted to steal two elections, killed over 121,200+ people in illegal wars, have reversed protection of children, women, the environment, not to mention the intentional elimination of civil rights of all citizens of this country...
and they are just getting started on their psychotic obsession with turning this nation into a police state. These war criminals will not be happy until they have occupied every natural resource on this planet, destroyed innocent countries, and many thousands of decent American's sons and daughters lie in their graves, or worse, return home devastated for the rest of their lives by the trauma of killing innocent people for oil.

name withheld

Dear Reader:

We regret your disappointment over the selection of President Bush as TIME's Person of the Year. But perhaps we should remind you of the traditional standard by which the editors make their annual choice. The Person of the Year is not an award or a tribute. The question at the center of the selection process is, Who or what, for better or worse, has affected the way we live today? The answer to that question could be a force for good (for example, Winston Churchill, Man of the Year, 1940; Dwight Eisenhower, 1944) or for evil (Adolf Hitler, Man of the Year, 1939; Ayatullah Khomeini, 1979). And to the latter, President George W. Bush must be added for 2004 -- there is no one else whose agenda and actions in the past year had such universal impact. As managing editor Jim Kelly noted in his Letter From the Editor, Bush has had his highs and lows over the past four years, but in the end he prevailed in the 2004 election by "persuading a majority of voters this time around that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years."

Thank you for writing. We appreciated having the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

Best wishes.

and pointed out Time's slamming of Bush -- the key phrases:

The answer to that question could be a force for good (for example, Winston Churchill, Man of the Year, 1940; Dwight Eisenhower, 1944) or for evil (Adolf Hitler, Man of the Year, 1939; Ayatullah Khomeini, 1979). And to the latter, President George W. Bush must be added for 2004.....

25. it's not a lame response
Times didn't praise Bush by selecting him as person of the year.

"The Person of the Year is not an award or a tribute."

Still it may be a RW rag, and probably many people (repubs) think Times Person of the Year is in fact an award or tribute.

Stalin, Hitler and Bush were/are all men who did/do have a major impact on the lives of many people...
