Kinda like the suddenly zealous football fan when his hometown team is in the Superbowl. Before that, this same fan didn't know a forward pass from a force-out at third base.

Politics, thanks to the media, has become as much a game of celebrity football as it is about real issues and life and death. Once that line was crossed, it is an easy leap to simply choosing the winning side just to be on the winning side.
