Feingold for President in 2008?
There has been a serious amount of talking here in Wisconsin about encoruaging Russ to run for the White House in 2008. Here's an article from Madison's Capital Times that shares this belief.

http://www.madison.com/tct/opinion/column/nichols//index.php?ntid=21404&ntpid=2

Snips from the article:

"Unfortunately, they don't see many reflections of their grass-roots passion in the state or national Democratic Party leadership. In fact, when Ed Garvey and I met with the Vernon County activists - most of whom were Democrats but some of whom were interested Greens and independents - the response to our suggestion that in this era of conservative hegemony Wisconsin and the United States need an opposition party was immediate and enthusiastic.

They even had a suggestion for who the opposition leader should be. When I was describing what a serious opposition party would stand for at this moment in history - starting with an absolute rejection of the war in Iraq and empire building and going on to a passionate defense of civil liberties and a willingness to stand up to multinational corporations - a bearded fellow in the crowd shouted, "We've got someone who can do it - the only senator who voted against the Patriot Act: Russ Feingold." The crowd cheered.

7. I Know; I Still Don't Understand His Vote For Asscrak,
but, by the same token, I applaud his courage in being the LONE senator to oppose the "Patriot Act." I'm confliced on Russ because of this.

12. He'll have to explain that
Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but what on earth was that about?

Of course, this is another example of why I like people who have held office and have a voting record. You can better judge them by something other than what they say on the campaign trail.

3. he won BIG in 50-50-divided Wisconsin, and not merely because
he's the incumbent. He's smart, funny, and can attrack people from all parties.
Therefore, he will be torpedoed in the primaries, his supporters called cultic freaks, and we'll see Biden, Bayh, or a neoconservative Alabamian with an accent thick as dumplings.

4. Please God, make it so!
I love Russ. Wish he were mine. His one commercial was hilarious. Thanks again to the DUer who provided a link a few weeks back.

8. Would keep Wisconsin Blue
As well as Minnesota and might bring back Iowa. I think he would be an excellent choice - therefore, he won't be picked.

13. A Midwestern-Southern populist ticket is the way to win
Put Feingold or Durbin on a ticket with Edwards and I'm sure we will win.
