One simple thing Democrats could do to keep me in the fold |
|
Get Rush Limbaugh off Armed Forces Radio. There is no legitimate reason for our Armed Forces to be politicized by anyone. There are many reasons for this not to happen. They (Democrats)have enough power to eliminate this travesty. I will never support another democrat with either my vote or my wallet unless they accomplish this one small but necessary feat. I want Rush Limbaugh off Armed Forces Radio. I don't want just equal voice. I want all politics silenced from Armed Forces Radio. They are only harmed by political ranting and so is America as a whole. Limbaugh is a very divisive influence on America and should not be forced upon our military.

1. And why is this something |
|
that Democrats have to do? Why do you think that the minority party is this power?

8. I really don't understand |
|
why you would throw down the gauntlet over something like this.
Abortion, the environment, war .... but Rush on armed forces radio???
He'll stay on until one of two things happens: A. A Democrat is elected in 2008, or B. He is convicted on drug charges.

He was on Armed Forces Radio during the Clinton administration, at least on the Far Eastern Network.

maybe you haven't noticed, but they are a bunch of guys who haven't been on the winning side of things since 1996.
No one cares about them. It's the cyberspace cowboys giving them heat, and you bought in.
That's understandable though given what I've seen here in the past six weeks.

5. But someone has to keep demonizing the Democrats to the |
|
military. They must be assured that the Democrats are anti military and Limpballs is just the man to do that.
You could write letters to editors, to your congressmen and to Armed Forces radio. Also get friends and relatives, if they support you, to do the same.
DU'er could be brought on board to do this as well.

6. It’s a lost cause I believe |
|
I've recently heard NPR cover this issue. And the Army's response was that they get the program for free, and the troops love it. Listen he is basically preaching to the quire out there, don’t fool yourself.

offer their services to Armed Forces Radio for balance to that Rush's brainwashing for free.

I think if the soldiers enjoy listening to Limbaugh it's not up to us to keep them from it. I also think they should get Al Franken, Howard Stern, that Eddie guy on XM, Car Talk, Redskins radio and anyone else they want to listen to.
After all, they weren't the ones who decided they should go over there.

9. Since when is overriding a determined majority simple? |
|
Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the Republicans control the executive branch and both Houses of Congress.
The Constitution requires that legislation be passed by a majority vote of each House -- two-thirds if the presidential vetoes the legislation.
So your "simple request" is anything but. Personally, I think someone who demands the impossible as the price of their continuing loyalty is someone the party would be better off without.

15. I hate rush too, but... |
|
Does this need to be a breaking point for you to leave the party? Does this mean you agree more with the positions of the party in power or does it mean a party won't appeal to you unless it is in a position of power?
Personally, I think it is a privilege to have a democratic candidate to choose from, even if it's a protest vote (I live in the very heart of red country, Lubbock, Texas). What happens to you when you leave the party, do you have, then, no voice at all? Or do you join the republicans, hoping that they will get rid of Rush because they have the power.
They won't, you know.

* is giving it all to halliburton. Plus I'd think that some company would be willing to sell a bunch of raidos to the military for cheap so that they can run ads saying "we support our troops".

|
Or at least not blame Democrats?
Geeesh!!
Rush is a Big Fat Idiot (Where have I heard that?), but personally, I'm not going to hold my party responsible for controlling what military personel listen too.
And...You said...
"They are only harmed by political ranting and so is America as a whole"
Well...I guess we should shut this place down. Well actually...I guess we should pull the plug on the internet. Well, now that I think about it...I guess we should outlaw electricity. Well, darn...Gotta get rid of movable type too. Oh damnit...We need to start sowing mouths shut and breaking writing hands too.
Does that about cover it?

that a lot of gullible people voted for Nader in 2000, and let * usurp the white house. And now those same people are demanding that the dems do the impossible.

You're absolutely right about hot air jawbone, but even a person in a forward area, will eventually get sick of hush.Karl rove on the other hand is much more dangerous because of his global clout, and his fascination with subliminal manipulation.
