3 Ghosts for Bush tonight
What do you think the Ghosts of Christmas past present and future are going to tell Bush tonight?

Do you think they might mention the thousand of so us troups killed in Iraq this year? Or perhaps they'll chat about the roughly 15,000 civilians killed. Or maybe they'll take him around his own country and show him all the tiny Tim's without a place to eat or sleep.

Everyone call out to the ghosts tonight and ask them all to haunt that man.

Edited on Fri Dec-24-04 09:17 PM by The Zanti Regent
Ghost 1 (Falwell) is going to say to Bush, "ROUND UP THE HEATHENS!"

Ghost 2 (Robertson) is going to say "GIVE ME MORE MONEY!"

Ghost 3 (La Haye) said "HURRY UP WITH ARMAGEDDON!"

2. Your post gave me goosebumps...
But * has no conscience-- he has no problem in killing people. In fact, I think he gets off on it.

We can't expect him to feel emotions that normal people would because, frankly, I think he's nuts.

4. I don't know
I hear Bono tried with him. I Think it is fair to say he probably knows what he has done by now, and only believing the madness that surrounds him can comfort him.

I just hope that america realizes, even if Bush won't, that they can change the future. There is still time.

5. Well, he certainly is a sociopath
He had no problem whatsoever (as governor) sending people in Texas to their deaths. In fact, he even joked about it.

Call it what you will-- there's definitely something wrong upstairs. Mark Crispin Miller said he has elements of sadism in his personality.

10. He has something
I was just watching this documentary about how he sees the world, and I swear I felt my brain melting.

He does remind me of Republicans I know who think they are right and there is an element of sadism in their thinking, but they still think they're right. Yeah, I want to punch them to.

7. John Irving, one of my favorite novelists, is completely
devoted to "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.

After reading A Christmas Carol (or other Dickens novels), you might want to read "The Cider House Rules" by John Irving. It is one of the most poignant and masterful novels of our time.

Irving also wrote the screen play for the film, though a lot had to be cut out because of time constraints. "The Cider House Rules," as a film, is a classic film.

It's perfect holiday reading/film watching.

9. A Republican Christmas Carol
George W. Bush, you shall be visited by three phantoms, who in life were Republican icons.

Ghost of Christmas Past
Bush wakes up with a start, rubbing his eyes and trying to clear his head, until he sees a specter seated across from his bed, with a square jaw and wearing thick black spectacles. Barry Goldwater stands up and bitterly speaks of the gradual takeover of the Republican party by "kooks" on the religious right, that so alienated him in his final years as he clung to the pro-choice pro-gay conservatism of his time. He walks with Bush into a shadow of the current Senate, where Republicans finally have unprecedented control, and quietly remarks that it is indeed a Pyhrric victory in his view, as he fades into oblivion.

Ghost of Christmas Present
Bush awakens once more, in a trench with bullets flying over his head, surrounded in explosions and clouds of yellow gas. Dwight D Eisenhower grasps his arm and exposes Bush to shadows of his fearful experiences in the two world wars, and gently describes how it forged a grim understanding and profound distaste for warfare. He also addresses the later dilemma of appropriating money to defense industries or to domestic concerns that emerged during his presidency, invoking two of his greatest and most famous speeches. With these words, he foreshadows the snowballing problem, unaddressed by current politicians of either side, that threatens to consume the entire nation.

Ghost of Christmas Future
Bush once again rises, finding himself now in the Oval Office with a copy of the Washington Post on the desk, where a swarthy, jowly man is slumped in a chair across from him, scowling. Richard Nixon, never speaking, draws Bush through a montage of images of Nixon from the day of the Watergate break-in, to his worst and final days in the presidency. He silently gazes upon the moments when he made catastrophic errors, then points accusingly at Bush; perhaps, subtly insinuating what may become of Bush himself in the second term.

I definitely will drink to that on this Christmas evening. Sadly, I tend to doubt that it will happen, unless a very particular segment of the Congress just evaporates.

This was really funny, but it took me a while to decide between Christmas Present and Christmas Future. I finally chose Christmas Future. Although things are very icky for him right now (Yay!), and I think a mighty cold wind will blow in for New Year's, with any luck he'll be working at Wal-Mart or Halliburton next year at this time wondering, "What went wrong?"

Christmas Future is winning, btw, with 51%. :)

15. The ghosts have withdrawn any haunting duties related to *.
They are part of an international coalition that is withdrawing all of it personnel/staff (3) to protest current US policy. Powell is trying to set up a meeting as one of his last acts in this administaration that could not even sustain diplomatic relatons with ghosts.

22. The thousands of needlessly dead from 9/11...which could've been prevented
had Shrub acted sooner, or not had the 'ties' he does with the Saudis, etc.

The millions of holocaust victims from WWII, courtesy of Shrub's grandfather, Prescott.

The millions of starving, cold and homeless Americans spending this Christmas on the streets courtesy of Shrubco economy.

The thousands of killed and maimed U.S. Soldiers who honorably served out their "Active Duty" obligation...unlike Shrub in the 80's.

And all the innocent civilians both in Iraq, as well as throughout all the Third World Dictatorships during Shrub (Jr/Sr) Presidencies, who have been slaughtered at the hands of soldiers we sent, and/or paid others to do our Colonial dirty-work.

Given the large numbers above, Shrub's bedroom's gonna be quite crowded tonight. Perhaps Laura should sleep on the couch.

26. I'm Haunted, Too
I'm haunted by the thought of what would've happened had Kerry run a good campaign: He would've won. Instead of the Bushies planning parties, it would've been the Dems making Inaugural plans. I think our time would be better spent figuring out how to run better campaigns than calling out ghosts to haunt Bush.

28. We aren't prepared (or possibly even able) to mount a campaign so
based on lies, innuendo, criminality, coercion and despicability as the Republicans are not only willing to, are now committed to. If we got down in the sewer with them, we probably could win, but I haven't decided if it's morally worth it. Something in me keeps saying it's better to lose than to operate like they do. But I could be wrong.
