Ideas needed: Gather forces - take it to the streets on New Year's Day
"Nothing changes on New Year's Day."- unless WE make it happen.

Wherever you are - Have a party. End the year making posters and rally signs on New Year's Eve.

Whenever you can - From New Year's Day on, gather your friends and signs and go to your favorite intersection to make Americans aware of the importance of January 6th.

However you choose - Encourage others to contact their Representatives and Senators in Washinton on January 3rd through the 6th.

New Years Day - U 2

All is quiet on New Year's Day

A world in white gets underway

And I want to be with you

Nothing changes on New Year's Day.
I will be with you again.
I will be with you again.

Under a blood-red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white

Arms entwined
the chose few

Newspaper say
it says it's true it's true.
And we can break through

I will begin again
I will begin again

Oh and maybe the time is right

Oh maybe tonight.
I will be with you again.
I will be with you again.

And so we are told this is the golden age
And gold is the reason for the wars we wage

Though I want to be with you

To be with you nightand day.
Nothing changes on New Year's Day.

1. New Year's Day is a great time to march
Many people have that day off. I actually am off (I'm working on the 3rd and the 6th and the 20th).

But do we need to concentrate on getting folks to march on the 6th? I'm just asking - please don't take offense.

Are you thinking a march on the capitols or the media? In large cities?

2. Not to conflict with marching on the 6th, but to create awareness that
Up and down US1 America there is a need to get the word out. Calls and emails to Washinton can make a difference.

For this purpose, a January 6th march here seemed to be "after the fact".

Nothing is going on here in Miami and with little time left for planning, the idea for a New Year's sign making party came to mind.
I hadn't thought about it as a media event (although maybe I should have) - just a way for us to locally highlight the importance of contacting Washington before the January 6th vote

Coming from some success at Kerry Honk & Waves, it seems like we could put our email contacts to use and start the New Year with Voting Rights as THE issue.

Rally signs should also promote the March on Washington - as that will be the main media event.

I'm looking for ideas and pros and cons before suggesting this to my email list.

3. Pros and cons
Well, I can't think of many cons except that people may sleep late, maybe? I guess you could get them in the streets in the afternoon. Will the stores be open on New Year's Day? In that case, a good march would be noticed by quite a few people.

I'm with you - I'm a bit scared that 1/6 is too late but I can't do anything on the 3rd either. :( The majority of Americans can march on the 1st because of the holiday.

The pros - well, it will be a slow news day except for sports. Not too much going on. Also, it will bring attention to the Jan 6th marches around the country.

I can let the troops in NC know about this if you want to ramp up and try to get something going. I can put links on my website as well.

I've been trying to organize something but the whole family has been sick so it's been difficult. :) We're coming through it now.

I'm pretty much game for something. I get so tired of writing and signing petitions - not that those aren't great things but we need bodies in the streets, now.

4. some poster ideas
Yes.."we need bodies in the streets, now. "!

Since New Year's Day is a Saturday and a holiday for most, there will probably be plenty of drivers on the way to the malls.
Awareness of the 6th is the main idea.

Here are a few slogans. Some can be tailored for different cities.

Did your vote count?

March on Washington - January 6th.

Call Bill Nelson - 202-224-5274

Fight for Fair Elections

Miami Herald - Expose the Coverup

Ohio or Bust.

Wake up America.

It CAN happen here.
