Rat-bastard House gops to crucify Hefley over Delay.
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 07:06 PM by Pepperbelly
After admonishing the low-life weasel Delay over ethics violations (and of course after they changed their rules to let indicted gop crooks stay in leadership positions(, Hastert and the Hammer are sending a message to the gop rank-and-file in Congress: don't fuck with Delay.

-snip-

Although Hastert (Ill.) has not made a decision, the expectation among leadership aides is that the chairman, Rep. Joel Hefley (R-Colo.), long at odds with party leaders because of his independence, will be replaced when Congress convenes next week.

And who will they replace him with? That oldie-goldie Lamar Smith, late of the House Judiciary Committee and their gang rape of Bill Clinton.

-snip-

The aides said a likely replacement is Rep. Lamar S. Smith, one of DeLay's fellow Texans, who held the job from 1999 to 2001. Smith wrote a check this year to DeLay's defense fund. An aide said Smith was favored for his knowledge of committee procedure.

He even kinda favors the hammer, doesn't he? Sort of a cross between Tom Delay and Jimmy Swaggart.

2. Hastert pulls this and maybe, just maybe any republican with an iota
of a conscience left will see that their party is nothing but a bunch of thugs who should be sharing a prison cell.

This will either put the fear of corruption-gone-too-far in them, or intimidate their asses until they're all cowed and beaten like the dogs that Hastert thinks they are.

We need to put some pressure on the republicans that can be (if possible) perceived to still have half a testicle (or ovary) to their names.

3. are there any of those anymore?
Gops with even marginal conscience, I mean.

I keep wondering just how low they will go and no matter how cynically I design my expectations, they keep going lower.

4. Yes, appeal to their instinct for self-preservation.
Republicans who aren't corrupt neocons could be voted out in primaries with help from those riggable voting machines. They should be encouraged to join forces with Democrats and oust the really bad guys for their own protection.

7. Joel Hefley, R - CO - Colorado Springs fundie
One of the most Conservative members of the House, for once does the right thing - the "ethical" thing, and the thugs in control of the Republican Party punish him for it.

Wow.

Will there be a backlash?
