If in my lifetime we regain congress,,,,,,
The Democrats should exact the hardest revenge and humiliate as many Republicans as possible. Indict as many of th pig's as they can.

I know it sounds petty but what these assholes have brought and are bringing deserves nothing less.

I hope to live to see Congress in the hands of real democrats again but not sure if it will eve happen in my lifetime and I am only 32 years old.

The deck is so staked I am not sure we can overcome it without violence.

1. It is time to punish them so they do not attempt to do it again,
it is not petty to seek justice and punishment on the level of the crime, a few stolen elections deserve many years of payment.

3. Never will happen
The CONS are in control of the corporate media that washes the brains of the sheep. You know...the sheep with the W stickers on their cars.
The mainstream media controls thought by keeping the dialog small for emotionally immature simpletons.
For the media to truly become investigative and a corporate watchdog...well..that won't happen.

4. Howard Dean says we have to start locally.
Pass initiatives to reform voting laws state by state, for instance. Also initiatives on how Congressional districts are drawn. We also need to focus on getting Democrats elected to key state offices, such as Secretary of State, to prevent the obstructionist tactics we saw Kenneth Blackwell pull in Ohio.

Residents of states where such antics have happened need to exercise their rights to recall or impeach public officials who don't do their duties, I believe.

We need to reform our party within, putting progressives onto Democratic committees to select candidates who aren't corporate sell-outs.

We need to educate the populace in every way possible--a task the mainstream media has made extremely difficult. But not impossible. If I ran the Democratic Party, I'd order direct mail pieces sent to every household in America. This is only a matter of raising enough money--no one can censor the U.S. mail--at least not yet.

There are hopeful signs that some conservatives and moderate Republicans are seeing the light. Last week a former moral majority leader spoke out to warn of the dangers posed by the Religious Right. A pastor in Austin, Texas, preached a sermon on the danger of fascism in America. All of us who belong to churches, synagogues, etc should urge our religious leaders to speak out from the pulpit and educate their congregations on the very un-Christian, anti-religious actions of this administration. The far right has shown us the power of stirring the righteous passions of the religious populace.

I've also wondered whether cities and counties are duty-bound to use equipment mandated by the state, or could they opt out of voting machines? It would be an interesting point for someone to research.

So there is hope, even amid the darkness.

6. indianablue...... they say history is cyclical
So I keep hoping the dems will be able to recoup, but not feeling very positive at the moment. But then again, I'll bet many democrats weren't feeling positive through the McCarthy era either. Complete republican control then too. I keep hoping something will put the fight back into our leadership. And if that shouldn't happen, it will be time for a new 3rd party. Someone has to be able to stand up to these rethugs.
