2. $35 Million
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 11:07 PM by kdmorris
And I can't even talk about it without ranting. We spent BILLIONS of dollars destroying a country and asked for BILLIONS to rebuild. That's only ONE country. And all we can come up with for the countries involved in this disaster is $35 MILLION ($20 Million of which appears to be a loan)? I am so deeply ashamed and embarrassed.

In Florida, we received at least 12 BILLION dollars after the hurricanes. Are our lives worth so much more than a Bangladeshi? A Thai? A Sri Lankan? And without prompt aid in those countries, many more seem destined to die of diseases brought on by their infrastructure being ripped apart.

EDIT: Changed my original amount of Hurricane Aid to Florida.. I was incredibly low in my estimate, according to USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-09-27-bush-hurricane-aid_x.htm)

3. Shameful
This isn't my idea of moral values. We could help save thousands from disease, not to mention rebuild their tattered lives. Every life counts. We can do more.
