My 1000th post- Should I run again in 2006?
www.rickchapmanforcongress.com

I got in the race way too late to raise the funds last year.

But, I had a lot of fun, met a lot of great people, including Kerry, Dean, Edwards, Betty Castor, etc.

But it's a hell of a lot of work!

And I don't know why this web-site is still up. We must have paid for it for a year.

2. Of course! And congrats!
Reminds me of what Pat Robertson said - "if every church runs one person, we could..." blah blah whatever.

The same applies here! Except that our members are far more qualified and intelligent than dominionist radical rabble-rousers.

4. If you can raise the money for an effective
race, then do so. What's the typical cost of running for Congress in your neck of the woods? Are you capable of spending the hours necessary on the phone to raise that kind of money? Do you have a core of dedicated people for your campaign staff?

I ran for the Kansas State House myself (and lost) so I have some clue what it's all about. I also did serious volunteer work for a woman who briefly ran for the U.S. Senate (she dropped out because she realized she'd gotten far too late a start to raise the money that race needed) as well as volunteer work for Dennis Moore, our incumbent Democratic Congressman who has now been elected for the fourth time.

Realistically, you need to start raising money NOW if you're going to be a serious candidate.

Your web site is excellent.

Have you connected to the Democratic leadership in Florida? What is your district like?

Running for national office is a full time job. Even running for state office can be also, depending on the state or the office.

Good luck and keep us posted.

7. The cost for a congressional seat
around here is $800,000+. I have the Staff available if I run, but the thing I hate most is begging for money. I spent a lot of time on the phone last time.

The District is gerrymandered to hell, and covers parts of 3 counties.

If I do run, I'll probably start in a month or so. But right now I've got a lot of other projects cooking. I have a lot of support locally and at the state level. Dennis Kucinich offered to come down and campaign for me if I made it through the primaries.

10. I am down in Indian Rocks Beach.
I was thinking of running for a state seat. I was wondering if I could talk to you about the process? I also could give you hand if you would like.

11. If you're down in Indian Rocks
The person to talk to would be Carrie Wadlinger, the new Pinellas DEC Chair. She's good people. We're forming a new tri-county Democratic Club, that pretty much covers the western section of the 9th Congressional District. Northern Pinellas, West Pasco, and West Hillsboro. Feel free to get in touch with me. I can put you in contact with the right people.
