Everybody give $2 to Greens today
For no particular reason other than to let the dems know we're leaving.

We need to Push the 527s like Moveon not to defer to Dems in deciding strategy as they did when Kerry asked them to pull ads attacking Bush for being AWOL.

I will still support democratic candidates who stand by New Deal principles, but I won't give money to the party or support candidates who are stealth republicans.

1. A wise way to proceed
No more free rides just because you put a D on your office door.

I'm talking to YOU Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. (And way too many others...)

2. I reluctantly agree.
Still I was a Democrat for way longer than I was a Republican or independent. :)

And they get punished for it? I don't understand.

and at least 15 members of the House.

10. It isn't so black and white
And pledging eternal service to a senator based on a single vote is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. Doubtless you said the same about Byrd during the IWR debate, who voted "no" today, I believe. Now he is a damned Repuke sympathizer unworthy of our spittle, I'm sure.

12. The right to vote is a sacred right
If the party as a whole won't fight for our right to vote, it can disappear into the dustbin of history.

15. They did fight today
Using a means of fighting that would avoid burying the entire issue in a triumphal Republican PR victory. Your chosen method wouldn't be so lucky. It seems you care less about actual results on voting rights than about moving the bar every time the Dems actually do something so a victory can be declared a failure.

18. There is the whiff of appeasement in the air
the same whiff I smelled when many of our Democratic representatives voted for PATRIOT and IWR so as to not give ammo to the GOP. That's some winning strategy, isn't it?

33. ding ding ding, right answer!
strength in unity. we understood that -- MANY times. our democratic leaders didn't. for that they shall be condemned. period. no more debate. play horse trade with the most sacred and last check to power there is in the face of fascist threat is outright assault on your freedom. the question for people now is "will you go down with the gop choking you with a rope and call it a victory because the rope's not attached to a tree?" i choose no. i recommend other sensible people to choose no.

16. Do you really see it as punitive?
Like Nick said above, Congressional Dems need to earn our support.

Beginning with the lack of reaction to the theft of 2000, thru PATRIOT, IWR, and so, so many disappointments, I've been saying "OK, one more chance." But like any bad relationship, there comes a time to say "enough." I suppose that for a lot of people, today was the final straw.

23. I say next to a member of the DNC at a (my first) DFA meeting last night.
He actually said "some of the DLC's ideas are good."

I think I'll follow through on your suggestion. I'm going Green, too. Fuck the Dems if they don't care about fraud that will lead to their extinction (which it will, when THEY get blackboxed, too)!

20. I feel the same way
I've been a lifelong Dem and starting working for the party when I was eight years old. I've been adamantly anti-Green/ third party since 2000, but recently that has changed. I'm sick of having to vote for moderate right wing wimps because they are my only viable option. More of the same only means...more of the same; losing. If a Progressive leader with a strong backbone and a loud voice stands up to these anti-Americans, then I'll back him/her, even if they are green party/third party.

Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 04:28 PM by Kahuna
that the Greens, who put the repukes in total control of the government, bitch and howl the loudest about the repukes having total control of the government. What part of this didn't they understand in 2000 when they GLEEFULLY, cast their lots with the devil? Amazing. Now they want the DEMS to be purer than snow. Hypocrasy knows no bounds.

to challenge the Florida electors. So, don't you lecture us about the Greens "putting the repukes in control." That's as much a red herring as blaming Bush exclusively for the war in Iraq, when in fact many Democrats voted for the Iraq WAR Resolution.
