1. Voted banal evil, shitty liar, lying shit... whatever. |

If you condone or advocate torture, you have no business sitting in the Attorney General's office.
I urge everyone to write to their senators and ask them to please oppose the nomination of a pro-torture attorney for the nation's top justice spot.

3. All of the above and then some. |

Does he ever stop to think it might be his kids captured by an enemy that thinks, "Hey, THEY did it, why shouldn't I?"
I don't wish it on anyone, but it could possibly happen.
Oh, wait, no it can't. I forgot, he's a Republican. "Ugly" and "cruelty" don't exist in the "reality based community."

4. I honestly dont think he is that bad... |
|
I dont think he will be any worse than Ashcroft.
If the "torture" thing is the worst thing that people have on him I dont think it will hurt him.
Myself I think that certain types of torture should be allowed in military interrigation.
I can speak for myself and plenty other Hispanics that I know in South Texas.

6. Gonzales would not sit in the AG chair as a Hispanic -- |
|
-- but as an American in charge of justice for all.
I do have a problem with someone condoning or advocating torture.
"No worse than Ashcroft..." is scant consolation. Call me old-fashioned, but I happen to love the Bill of Rights.
Are you certain that you feel comfortable with someone who recommends to the President of the United States that the spirit and letter of components of the Geneva Convention be ignored in the conduct of American foreign policy?
Really?

7. Any of us could be declared enemy combatants |

And spirited to a secret prison cell in the dead of night. I plan to complain and raise hell as long as I am able.
The US is gone, it’s over when we let people like this interpret our laws. Gonzales is a horrible person who shouldn’t sit in judgment of anyone.

8. What types of torture ought to be allowed?! |
|
You know there is a reason we signed the Geneva Conventions. Trturing suspects puts our own troops at risk and does not always yield reliable information. Not to mention the whole bit about it being just plain wrong.
Unfortunatly I agree with you he'll still get confirmed.

10. 'I dont think he will be any worse than Ashcroft' |
|
Is that the standard you want to set for the next AG?

The panel before which he should answer questions is not the Senate Judiary Committee but a duly constituted international tribunal for war crimes in Iraq.
He can end up as Chemical Ali's cellmate. I have another idea about who gets to be Saddam's.
