3. "Why of course the people don't want war...
Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.

That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked,
and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the
country to danger. It works the same in any country." -Hermann Goering

Especially if the lie lets them believe something that is pleasant to believe. Or helps them avoid confronting a truth that is unpleasant to confront.

8. that's because the "big lie" is a "conspiracy theory"
It's obvious that no one can get away with telling a big lie, since the truth would eventually come out. Therefore, all lies are small. Are you defending Hitler?

10. Wrong
Hitler was insane, but he was also intelligent.

People will believe a big lie more than a small one because when a lie becomes almost universally accepted through group-think psychology, it becomes peceived as an obvious, unquestionable truth.

It's the great danger of fascism, or any kind of group-think psychology.

shenanigans that have taken place under the bush administration such as WMD and Iraq, 911, black box voting. And I agree in time these lies if they haven't been exposed will be. Unfortunately the perpetrators may no longer be with us when this happens. The truth will be assigned to history which is the saddest result of all.
